you most likely have a slow connection and its too much to keep up with for your system thats why when you refresh it shows the chat because it doesnt have the power to continually load and update the chatter

Clearing your cache might fix you up.. it can have a negative effect if too cluttered.

Tried that Joule, and darkerdrag I have tested my connection and it is fine. I'm not too bothered about the slow connection, it's the inability to type that is annoying! Thanks both of you anyway.

That as been happening to me.In my opinion its not chat messing up it just the amount of people using it at once. For example:One member could be typing at the same time as you and sometimes that will cause a loose or bad connection.
Plus it could be the amount of members using this site or them using live chat.Well thats just a theory.I think Petrarca is trying to fix it though.I hope this situation comes to a conclusion so it can become fix.

It's just a simple bug and happens to almost everyone. All you have to do is hit backspace and enter until it sends.

Try full screen chatter just like k.flamers suggested if you type and nothing comes up refresh the page what you typed should be there if not then just wait it out it will eventually fix itself unless you've been gagged in which you won't be able to use the chat feature

If it's a mistake, you're not automatically gagged. It's up to the descretion of the moderator present.

Also, Petrarca has recently updated the codes for the chatter, so hopefully it runs better. :)
