Visit an acupuncturist. Oftentimes scars, tatoos, and surgeries can rearrange the lines of meridians that travel through the affected areas. An acupuncturist can reconnect these pathways easily and relatively painlessly.

I try, LoneStar :)

Vastros, just curious, where is the tatoo on your body? People can have specific symptoms depending on which meridians are affected.

Accupuncture sounds like a good idea, i just want to know fully what it is first, or is that foolish?

There are four different meridians (channels of qi) that run through your shoulder depending on exactly which place.

I'm sure you can find a good deal of information about acupuncture on the internet. In two sentences, acupuncture according to LdyGry:

Acupuncture calls your body to heal - it doesn't "put" anything into you or manipulate your energy beyond what it would do naturally. Acupuncture works within the laws of Nature to gently nudge any energetic imbalances and smoothe out any "wobbles" within your body's qi.

If you decide to try it out, hopefully where you live you have a choice of practitioners - not all acupuncturists are the same - look for a Five Element practitioner if you are blessed enough to have one of us in your area ;)

That's Phi the Greek symbol for the Golden Ratio, I do not see how the symbol could be poisonous, its a divine symbol that has existed for ages as a benevolent symbol.

The power of a symbol lies in the person's mind who owns it. Symbolism varies throughout the world, however, it works just as well for the individuals who use it based on their belief. Even though the symbol may not mean "protection from poison" it is what vastros believed when getting the tattoo, therefore it is the meaning that it will embody.

LadyGrey, you're awesome. But stay away from me with those needles! Lol, I know that acupuncture can do many wonderful things, but I would only have it done if it was my last option. =s

Since he had the tattoo done months ago, I would think that if it were a meridian/qi problem, it would have shown up from the start wouldn't it? I'm not very keen with acupuncture, I do know about it's close cousin, acupressure which follows the same belief of certain parts of the body being closely connected with various organs, other parts of the body and systems. It's so hard to determine such issues as this over the internet. I would think that the lodestone may do some good, if it is qi related. Perhaps if it continues to be a problem, an accupuncturist may be best.

However, if you want to look at it medically, there could be some sort of reaction going on from the tattoo itself. We can't rule out a physical problem either. Scars can form under the skin due to the tattoo and begin hurting 3-10mo after the tattoo is made. Sometimes scarring creams help. If there is any raised areas of the tattoo this could be eruptions and inflammation caused by scarring. I would consult a doctor or your tattoo artist to find the best cream to help heal the scarring and to prevent the tattoo from becoming discolored or faded.

As a magickal practioner, I consider all possible causes, both spiritually and physically. I wouldn't rule out either. I believe that energy in our bodies that becomes inbalanced can cause illness or effect us physically. So even though you may be treating the effect, don't forget to consider spiritual causes.
