Lion's foot is a dandelion. Graveyard dirt is mullein powder. Wild geranium is called dove's foot. Now when a witch hunter or another person desiring to steal a spell or recreate it without knowing the witch's lingo, he used a real lion's tooth, or dove's foot and he looked like an idiot for it. Then of course there are others. The "devil's plaything" is yarrow. But when someone read that, they believed the witch could obtain a...urm...devil's plaything lol which is something they could not. Many families have their own nicknames. Upon asking what it is, with a smile they will tell you their nickname. It is a way to keep their ingredients secret.

I was actually wondering when we would start to see questions about mermaid tears. The last Pirates of the Caribbean Movie had mermaid tears as one of the magical ingredients to the fountain of youth. I really wish people would learn that most of the information found in movies is not realistic.

i highly doubt that they are mermaid tears. mermaids only exist in the astral realm never in the physical. you cant take astral tears and put them in a physical bottle....the stuff in the bottle could just be a glamour or a illusion potion or some sort.
