Oops! I just checked and he was 72 when he died. That's what I get for writing after only four hours of sleep last night!

He did go through women like mad though! And he disliked himself greatly.

I've mostly read the Book of the Law, which was supposedly written through mediumship. Which books of his did you particularly fancy Brysing?

It is so long ago that I cannot remember the,at most, two or three books and Articles written by Crowley. I remember that I found them interesting at the time.(1950s) But by that time I was starting to read Gerald Gardner and Alex Sanders. Also I remember my teacher's comment on Crowley's death (1948?) "The angels will be cheering!"

Just "Googled" Crowley. I very rarely go to Google, for information; I find a lot of it misleading, and some of it downright lies! However, one Article seems pretty accurate. It is by "Wikipedia", whatever that is!

Necromancy is the most compicated type of magic ive comeacross so far. I could advise looking at http://www23.brinkster.com/falcis/ and http://www.scribd.com/doc/47185313/The-Necromantic-Ritual-Book

Sorry Lexi, but what you described is not necromancy. Necromancy only has to do with zombies and raising the dead in fiction.

The suffix "-mancy" means it's a form of divination, like cartomancy or geomancy. "Necromancy" is essentially calling up dead people and asking them a question.

Nothing too apocalyptic.

There are some "necromancers" that commanded zombies in African mythology, voodoo in particular. However, since Haitian voodoo zombies are really just people drugged to the point where they act like zombies, it seems likely that African voodoo did the same with native materials. I always thought that necromancy, following the Renaissance, was the practice of "controlling" the dead or spirits (I feel the latter resembles some forms of demonology). Prior to that it simply referred to contacting the dead. Precisely which form of necromancy are we discussing?

sorry GothicLexi but your wrong if i had to guess i would say you got your info about necromancy from the TV show true blood real necromancy has nothing to do with zombies or controlling the dead it about weaving spells with death energy and divining the future thru invoking or in some cases evoking the souls of the dead
