Somewhat as Brysing said, if you go out searching for a thrill you will find it. The multiverse is a vast place. Consider the concept of the astral plane by itself. This vast plane is said to be "between" all other realms, and to link them. This means that you can pretty much find whatever you're looking for. If you think the spiritual realms will leave you in an epic struggle of good vs. evil... you sure can create than within and without. If you're just looking for peace and wisdom, you can find that too.
People are scared of Ouji boards. If you display fear and anxiety in front of a wild animal, they are more likely to view you as prey. Why should this be any different among spirits, demons, etc.? Foster not fear but understanding.
Pretty much dont be dumb and foolish when it comes to summoning things. I've heard so many "But we didnt know it would actually happen" stories, and the easiest thing they could have done was either actually take precautions or be cautious and not do it at all. Summoning is like a box of chocolates. You never really know what your gonna get.

some man will doubt everything, as well another will believe everything. they will both find a way to justify thier means.
if you believe something is bad, then don't do it, simple, no?
if you don't or just simply don't care, then do as you wish. all in the end what ever happens is on your head. that is it.
all may have differing beliefs, so just stick with such.

Well,zeberah,I can assure I am a very real witch. And as a witch I do not believe in the Devil,or Hell, or Heaven. And I would not dream of summoning a demon! My spirits are friendly,and are of my own ancestors.
