I have to agree. I go to the covens to discuss, to exchange ideas, to learn, to meet others....and I am a *big* talker, so I understand the frustration of inactive covens.

It's a place to discuss after all. I wonder why people join and then they do not participate.

The access to private spells and then just plain socializing not learning just talking in chat.

And as positive on the matter as all of you are, keep in mind that some people are just in it for the title of being a leader, thus why we have inactive leaders of covens still on their first page of forums.
And others may not inactive per-say, but more or less unfit to run a coven. We have had people volunteer in the past, only to start teaching the coven about alien lizards that will take over the world once descending from the amphibious heavens.
Sad and rather upsetting, but it happens.

- Just because they say they'll help, doesn't mean they will or in that should.

Thanks Snow..I think that is a good idea having those interested letting people know. If your interested please state it here. That way it is in one place and makes it easier to be looked at.

I think.....(and this is just my humble opinion) but people should prove themselves first, you cant just walk into a coven ''oh hey, look the p/p is inactive let me become the leader''

.....why?

because you just happen to be on when theyre gone? or is it because you THINK you can do a better job?

I agree that inactive leaders should be removed and replaced. I agree that many jump for those positions for the title, or even the ability to decide what or how a Coven runs. Some are excellent teachers, but not so intelligent in leading. Whereas some are natural born leaders but not so great at teaching.

Personally there is no real way of knowing if any candidate is a leader or not, but I believe we can point out those who may be good in the position. I think this thread is great for finding out who is interested, but just because you pop in here and say ''Hey I'll take the job.'', shouldn't particularly mean you should get it.

I think we should look at one's posts, whether they seem knowledgeable in their posting with sound information. How they respond in the chatter, since thats where most of us seem to make our lasting impressions. Spells one has added, whether that seem to be of a decent ''rational'' basis. So on and so forth.

Also I have noticed they some seem to get irritated when members outside of a Coven post on "Coven specific" threads in the main forum. Just because someone shows concern or tries to help, some get right down annoyed or even disrespectful in following posts. Look this is all of our's community. I should think it a good thing when all become interested.

Well put Draggy.
Now then, if it's o.k with the people who are interested in arguing with everything, perhaps we may go on in the simple, and calm fashion as requested.

Let's not get too happy with really long ellipses and capping words. Opinions are welcome, but shall I say keep them civilized in this particular thread. It'd be so much more easier a time reading it carefully.

So, any others who'd possibly like to volunteer?

Before we carry on though, I make it known that no one is guaranteed a coven here. Jesselina you can rest your worried thoughts of us handing over covens willy-nilly.
In fact, there's no guarantee this thread will ever go anywhere beyond that of useless words. Not to mention those ultimately in charge of deciding this are no idiots, after all, they did build Spells of Magic from nothing; so please, for the sake of no worries, do not expect bad decisions to come of this.

The coven Black Cross is one of them. I'm currently a member of said coven and I'd like to get the coven active again.

Now, I don't want you to think that I'm incompetent in the Pagan religion or the uses of magic. I've been a practicing Pagan for seven years. I have knowledge of the basics (correspondences, circle casting, visualization, etc.), elemental magic, astral projection, thought form creation, wish and candle magic, charm and herbal sachet creation, energy manipulation, potion creation and so on. I say this because of the previous posts by those worried that a coven would be taken over by one that does not know what he or she is doing.

Also, I recently joined the coven, but it seems that no one has been active in a very long time. It would be hard having a coven with just myself present and active in discussion. I say this because of this thread does go anywhere, if possible I'd like to take the position as Priestess and do what I can to better the coven, if only for the younger members of the site in search of knowledge pertaining to the Pagan religion and magic in its various forms.

Blessed Be and Best Wishes to you all.

Why don't moderators have a huge meeting one day and discuss this issue to settle it once and for all?

Make a list of which covenants have inactive p/p as well as the actual members/council being active as well. If the members/council are NOT active as well as the p/p the covenant could be called into question for deletion. If the members/council however are in fact active then have a chat with them and let them decide the next p/p. If everyone wants a spot then I think the idea of a sort of..test? (idk just go with me) to see which person would be suited for the job (Questions, Seniority, ect).

I'm sure some of the mods on here are tired of looking at inactive covenants just as much as we members are.
