There is a chance that during the blessing, evil spirits may have slipped in.
Best thing to do is lay you book down on a black cloth (to repel evil) and make a circle of salt around the book.
Chant the following chant a couple of times.

I've actually had a similar thing occur in my room after doing a spell. I think the spell attracted a not so nice spirit, because I couldn't see it but I kind of knew where it was. It made feel sudden and unexplainable surges of sheer terror. Not so nice. I tried listening to soft happy music, but that didn't work. Then I turned on the most insane blast beat screamo music I had. I kind of felt powerful from the music, so I pointed a very large knife in the general direction of the spirit and said get the hell away from me. Never had any problems with it since. As long as you have confidence you can command it. At least in my experience.

Do what Chaosxbliss said, After you smudge. Occasionally a negative energy will be attracted to a positive one. Just remember that these energies feed on more negative ones, so remaining positive and banishing it, will help you out greatly. I have to say though, that putting up a protective barrier will help you out greatly in this. This applies to anyone who uses magic. Most of the time it's not needed, but on the off chance something similar to this happens, you should have a protective barrier up so that you no malicious energies can effect you.
that was a beautiful blessing but part of it had you essentially ask the power of fire to empower the shadows if any raw energy happened to being laying out around you the blessing couldve actually called a somewhat sentient spirit into existence did you cleanse before the blessing?
