I think Adamantite is a metal used in Fantasy comics/games. Such as Wolverine's bones.

Because either method would kill most Humans. You'd be having every bone in your body pulled out to be replaced by a metal one. That's not exactly a person's idea of a vacation game.

I can't say much for armor materials,but I've made costume armor from bones,an old leather vest, brass and bronze plates back in 87-89. it started as a holloween costume and turned in to a 19 month project.

I don't know about using crystals for armour.

I know that they can be used in space crafts
to reflect heat waves into light and other
energy waves.In a sense that's considered a
type of armour but mabe not what your looking
for.
