Really and truly a wand isn't necessary it a way of using less of what power you do have by borrowing it from something else. So if you beleive you need a wand anything should work regardless of what it is. However, some objects like a stick do work better than others. But regardless you should personalize it to make it work better for you and your personal connections.

Indefinitely actually means not clearly defined or determined; not precise or exact; unlimited. It doesn't mean no.

Cris, in answer to your question. Oak is one of the best woods for wands,(it is sacred to druids, oak is a tree of wisdom) in my opinion.willow is also good(sacred to the Goddess and great from healing,). But look around and find what speaks to you. I have a couple of wands, one from the hurricane very odd shaped stick that got hit with lightening. and another, oak one from graveyard near by. It literally tripped me, I look down expecting a big stick and there's this little knotted piece of oak.
my first wand was a piece of pine.

It's acually better if you make your wand yourself or personalise it in some way, mine for instance is the handle of a wooden spoon with a simple pattern chissled into it.

to all you young Harry potter fans, magic isn't like what you think. do not think any Harry potter spell would actually work. if that is all you desire then go on a fake fancave for Harry potter and do not come back
