magick_gurl, you are correct. We do not have souls. We absorb them and use them as fuel rather than using them for what they are meant for.

Now, for the point of this thread, you can not "reject" your soul. The soul is an appendage that binds the spirit to the body. Without the soul your spirit leaves the body, that means your body dies. Nothing short of death will release your spirit from your body, nothing short of death will allow you to "reject" your soul. Well, there is Astral Projection, but in time you'll either have to return to the body or die. So that still results in death and while you are projecting your soul is still in your body.

Aside from DNA and fingerprints, we do lose our individuality by losing our soul in the sense that our bodies would be just as dead as every other dead body.
