very well the rite for roman catholic holy water consists as such.

gather a handful of sea salt and place in a sterilized glass preferably pure white china saucer.

make the sign of the cross or the sign of benedicition over the salt and recite the exorcism of salt.

gods creatures salt of the earth i cast out the evil from you by the lving god by the one true god by the holy god through whom all things have their being.may you be purified living heavenly salt a means of health for those who believe a medicine for body and soul for all who make you.may all evil fancies be driven far from the place where you are sprinkled!and let every unclean spirit be REPULSED BY THE ONE TRUE AND ALMIGHTY GOD!

Now recite the blessing of salt.

almighty everlasting god i humbly appeal to your mercy and goodness to bless this creature, salt, that you have given for humankinds use.may all who use it find in it a remedy for body and mind.and may everything that touches it be freed from uncleanness and ANY influence of evil through your holy name.AMEN

make the sign of the cross or raised palm of benediction over a sterilized glass bowl of FRESH SPRING WATER and repeat the exorcisim of exchange salt for water.

now recite the blessing of water.

o god who for mans welfare established the most wonderful mysteries in the substance of water hearken to this prayer and pour forth your blessing on this element.may this creature of yours when used in your mysteries and endowed with our grace serve to cast out demons and banish disease.MAY EVERYTHING THAT THIS WATER TOUCHES BE DELIVERED FROM ALL THAT IS UNCLEAN AND HURTFUL;THROUGH YOUR MOST HOLY NAME!AMEN.

now pour the salt into the water in the for of a cross saying,
may this heavenly salt and water unite in harmony IN THE NAME OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD!AMEN!

congrats u now have holy water.i have acquired this text from the vatican itself.so it IS FLAWLESS. now if u really want to do some damage say all that in latin or for an instantly dead evil force say in angelic.i could also tell you how to make desecrated water which is the opposite and very bad but even i have my limits.my knowledge is vast as is my experience.

ego sum legis pro nos es plures.

also faust u are correct and at the same time wrong.it can be used to cleanse, and purify.even the beings wiccans call demons which oddly enough usually are as many religions have a wide selection of them.anyone can use it.but it is most effect when recited with the exorcism and adjuration.and to date there are 6 forms of holy water.all of which date back to 14century.they include but r not limited too....

druidic
catholic
roman catholic
impure(recited by the possessed)
desecrated(recited by the damned)
water of the earth(native american in tradition and has many names)

any questions?

tzaddishin I avoided wiccan demons because I didn't want any argument on this subject (again).
And this blessing tech of yours has one flaw - one must have the sacrament of the holy order (must become a priest).
I think I've read somewhere that besides a priest a catholic with an extreme faith can bless water but those are rare.

I only ever once attempted to make holy water. This was back when I first started practicing. I used the roman catholic method.
Hy holy water was full of black and brown algae by the time I woke up the next morning after a night full of horrible nightmares.
I work without holy water now.

faust hint; I have witnessed many people make their own holy water effectively. So I can't subscribe to the whole priest thing. Plus, I seriously doubt that the divine really requires an ordained priest for all holy matters, it seems a little too superficial to be a divine trait.

Hagalaz: I totally agree. I use "moon water" and "dark moon water" and "sun water" for workings. I make these in different ways, but it is always distilled or spring water with either three pieces of course sea salt or three pinches of fine ground sea salt. It is then sat out at the Dark Moon overnight, the Full Moon overnight, or in the Sun for the day (usually at the Summer Solstice, when the sun is strongest).

"Holy" can mean anything. To Hindus, cows are Holy and are not eaten, that does not mean they are Holy to any other religion.

Holy Water can be ANY consecrated water. Some people even just use fresh running water from a stream or waterfall, without any added ritual to it.

When I want "holy" water ....I go to a church and get it.

My Catholic roots still show I guess.
