Over powering Empathy?

Do you ever feel like you're feeling way too much than you should be?

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with the amount of pain in the world. The other day I sat on the ground and sobbed for half an hour because of the incidents in Paris, the Ebola in Africa, the oppression in North Korea, the pain of those who have lost children to Boko Haram and I felt it all and it was so great I had to cry to get it out.

I just wished I knew why I felt that way, and why other people don't. But at the same time I feel glad that I do because at least then I can feel connected to my fellow humans.

Do you ever feel that overwhelmed by the sorrow? And what do you do to cope with it?

It's just simply that you're more compassionate and caring than most. You don't like what's going on, simple.

You can always read a good book, with some incense lit, and try to take a hot bath to smooth your nerves more. If all else fails, try meditation and a simply calming spell. Otherwise, disaster is natural for our world, and there just isn't much you could do about your sorrow.

We need more people like you in this world; those are the people that want to help and will help to make a difference.

Meditation and shielding helps to deal with the overwhelming situations I may feel in large groups of people. I also carry lavender essential oil with me at all times to help myself but it often comes out for others who are in need. I suggest practicing meditation daily in the company of other and while alone all while limiting your thoughts on certain global crisis. It is one thing to be aware it is another to let it consume you. When these thoughts creep in acknowledge them, send peaceful and loving thoughts to the beings within the situation and then let the thoughts go. Being incapacitated by the sorrow will not help those in the situation and it will cause a gift to become a burden.

It helps me to understand others better and to help them in times of need. Being aware and in control of my own emotions helps me to sense and be aware of others emotions. I see empathy as a gift to help one help others.
