I have heard from several people state that any sort of spell you cast will cost you something, for example:
if someone were to cast a money spell they would get the money, but the money would come from the will of a close family member who dies.
Or
if someone were to cast a love spell on someone, that person would fall in love, but the person who cast the spell would lose the other to tragedy?
Has anyone experienced this? Or does this only fall under a certain type of magic?
I don't believe things are really like this.
In magick all is about your energy. For your wish to come true, you need to put energy in it.
If you make a money spell, the energy within it will seek, according to some rules, to make it happen. It will only act to the intent of the spell, that means getting money but making someone die, is a little extreme.
When you do magick, is best to think very closely to your wish and take in mind and analyze every aspect of it.
Generally, it will take the easiest or most open means. If one is looking for a job/applying, it would go through that door to start the flow of money. Killing a relative is not by any way an easy or open means most of the time.
Spells are also structured in a way that is specific. There usually isn't room for it to be taken too broadly. Now with love spells, people will preach that they experienced horrible experiences with it, as well as preexisting ethics that won't allow them to cast such a spell. Not all paths view backfire as a real thing.
So no, never have I heard anyone talk about this, or have experienced it for myself.
I had been told the same thing about "personal gain" especially from a friend of mine who practices Wicca. But it never made a lot of sense to me either. Glad to know I am not the only one who thinks that way.
