summoning vs evocation

Hi everybody,

I have a question about summoning spirits/demons. This is an area that I do not have much practice in yet and would like to know is if evocation is better than actual summoning, since summoning apparently just tends to make them angry?

Has anyone experience with evocation? could you please give me a few tips?

Thanks

Evocation is when a being (usually a demon) physically manifests itself on our level of existance 'plane' (i strongly warn against allowing/helping malignant spirits to do this). Summoning is, in my experience calling upon a selected entity to aid in spellwork or to perform errends. with both however, comes a price. Mail me for an elaboration if you like :)

Evoking is similar to summoning. It means to call upon.

Evocation is not always on the Physical, It can be on the Astral as well...In fact most people Evoke to the Astral, Not the physical

I'm pretty sure there the same thing. But Summon just sounds ruder in my eyes wheras evoke sounds more polite

Tue I agree with you on that point. summoning sounds a bit coercive to me Id rather the spirit help me because it wants to not because it was forced to. Hence my interest in evocation

Perhaps the word you are looking for is invocation.

If you are working with demons, the word is summon. If they are angry, that is not unusual. You can't be friends with demons. You have to show them who's boss.

Might I recommend as a resource The Greater Key of Solomon?

The greater key???? Are you kidding me? It's way too impractical. Try the lesser key.

The lesser key just gives you the demons and what they do.

The greater key tells you how to make them show up. And more importantly, how to protect yourself from them.

Not all the diagrams and floor drawings are required. And you can make a triangle out of canvas or cardboard. But if you expect magic to work, you have to respect its context.

You can also use an athame in place of a full sized sword. But a metal implement is clutch. It helps to cut through etheric energy, in case things get out of hand.

Seriously though. Magic is far more effective, generally, when you put the time, effort, and work into it. You can eat ramen all the time. But you'll be healthier if you cook a balanced meal. Magick is no different.

Simply, evocation is calling to an entity (e.g. spirit, demon) to get its attention so that if it wishes to it will come and help you in some way whereas summoning forces them to come. Depending on your goal, both can be good. If you call just to see them come, summoning is better. If you wish for help with a spell, evocation is better.
