The Nature of Energy

Energy is, roughly, a force that exists everywhere which keeps the gears of the universe turning. Energy is a substance which will act based on the will which is placed into it. Energy is like a car- the key needs to be inserted and turned, the gears set, the gas pedal pressed, and the wheel turned. With no will or intent behind it, energy does nothing. A car without a driver will never fulfill its intended purpose.

Now, of course humans are not always or even usually the primary facilitators of this purpose. The will that molds energy is often provided by the spirits that exist everywhere, throughout the entire cosmos. In our lives though, as spiritual seekers, we can learn to harness our minds and souls in order to mold the energy, if to a lesser extent when compared to the great spirits themselves.

Our own spirits and souls are made up of this energy, we were initially formed to be what we are by powerful spiritual entities. Thanks to this, you are self aware and have the ability to choose your fate. The energy merely floating around however, is not self aware and needs guidance to do anything. You can achieve this by focusing your will into the energy. This will cause it to move towards a goal of your choosing.

Energy is limitless as far as what it can do goes. You, however, are not limitless while existing within humanity. The physical body imposes limitations on your being which are meant to cause you to grow as a spirit. So while the energy itself has no limit - what you as a human can ultimately do with it is limited.

You can learn to mold the energy to your own will by focusing your will and the intent behind it. This is often achieved through meditation, but ritual spell casting or ceremonies are also used to attempt to mold the energy to the will. Whatever it is you are doing, you can be assured that success is found when you mold the right energy.

Know that your thoughts, feelings, desires etc are all put out into the energy if you focus on them strongly enough. Therefore, getting depressed and fixating on how terrible you feel will cause the energy around you to be negative for you. Being thankful and focusing on what you do have in the present will cause the energy to be positive. When casting spells or meditating on the energy it is important to remember that keeping a disciplined mind will be of great benefit to you when you want to work with the spirit realm.

You are stating your own beliefs as though they are Fact. You may believe in spirits, but many do not! You may believe in your description of energy,Einstein would disagree. In your example of a car,you missed out the most essential component, fuel! The energy used by animals (and we are animals!)comes from food. The energy of our Universe comes from the Sun; when the Sun runs out of fuel our Universe will cease to exist.
Either use a word other than "energy", or study more.
Well written post,though!
Blessings from a very old witch.

While you DO make a few interesting points, you are mildly naive about a few things. First off, "energy" is not the appropriate term. The Japanese "Ki" (Life Force) or the Chinese "Chi" (Breath/Life Force) are more appropriate to what you are describing. And even then, it DOES work without input from us or spirits, because it is AN essentially building block to Life itself (though certainly not the only one). After all, a car cannot work without fuel, regardless of who's driving it, just as our bodies cannot work without fuel, despite our will to do so. Keep your body and mind fueled and your Ki can be molded by your will. Don't, and you die, and the Ki of insects and vermin take what's left of your Ki as they devour your corpse, and the Circle of Life continues with the majority of your Ki reincarnating into a new form.

Yes,indeed! And even with cremation,if the ashes are scattered on the earth, the chemicals in your ashes will feed plants. The plants will then feed the birds, insects and other wild animals. So either way, your Life Force will live again.

I respect both of your opinions and certainly, the way I word things is not always perfect. My car example wasn't entirely perfect, as Brysing pointed out. Maybe there was a better comparison?

I personally believe that the spirits created human life (and our spirits/souls which inhabit the shells which are our physical bodies) and all life on earth (similar concept as the Christian God- who by my understanding would fit under the idea of one of the things that a spirit might be), and that it is their wills which are behind the natural physical life and balance which exists today, that we all take for granted.

I would like to say that while yes, my beliefs are my opinion, pretty much any spiritual belief is an opinion.. and I prefer not to inject any unnecessary doubt into my writing if I feel confident about it (I don't want to give off the impression that I feel confused about what I'm trying to present or anything).

My understanding of the word "Energy" is that it is a very broad word wherein "Ki", "Chi", "Prana", "Ether", etc are specific parts that all fit loosely together under the idea of natural spiritual forces(when used in the occult sense).. like how you might refer to everything on the periodic table as "Elements". Basically I use "Energy" as an umbrella word because I am trying to describe a very broad idea. Additionally, words such as "Chi" are associated strongly with eastern philosophies, and while I believe much of it is true I also believe that many western philosophies hold credence as well. With that in mind I prefer not to color my ideas as either western or eastern, by using words which may indicate that I draw too strongly from either one (basically I am trying to not pick a side as far as eastern or western philosophy goes).

"Chi" (being a chinese word that we have adopted to an extent, in english due to its metaphysical use), is frequently translated as "Natural Energy", or "Energy Flow", so says wikipedia. And the Merriam Webster dictionary indicates that "Chi" is a synonym of "Energy". With that in mind I do not see the specific issue with that particular word usage.

In my view there are different types of energy just as there are different people. There is the energy of the physical and the spiritual and then there is energy underneath everything that binds the two. I think what he is talking about is controlling changing and moving that is underneath everything. The energy Behind the energy if you will. In my view there are different forms of energy. The energy of my mind for example what people call psi feels different to me than what my prana of life force is or the energy of the wind feels different than that of the earth. That binding energy is a flowing thing that moves and effects everything. But that energy under everything is moving and flowing and constantly changing effecting the world around us. Seer's see the future by looking forward through the flow of energy as it would go at that time and possibly other different paths it could take.

Thats just the way i see it tho.

The energy behind the energy, or that 'stuff' which is effecting everything in an ethereal sense, was most certainly a focus in my original post and I think it connects with and effects the other kinds of energy too(in the occult sense). I see it as all part of a large mechanism- it all effects each other, and the spiritual energies, mental energies, etc are very close to one another within that machine.

According to an actual Chinese person who's studied it for decades, "Chi" literally means "Breath" and is equated with "Life Force" as I stated earlier.

And your post IS insightful, I'm not denying that, but it DID come off as slightly naive. Perhaps it WAS the way you worded it, I'm not trying to be insulting, so I apologize if it came out that way.
