Dragon Magick

Dragons are astral beings who have great power and wisdom.
Like every deity Dragons deserve respect and praise.
You cannot see dragons physically although you maybe able to see there energies that they give off. Most who practice magick have a guardian dragon and a guide dragon or one of each, but you wont be able to just get them because you want one. The dragons chooses you and will only appear to you when they feel that you are ready. For people who have success in contacting dragons be aware that dragons speak in riddles (they love to speak riddles). Dragons can be your best friend and your worst enemy, so becareful on how you present yourself. Draconic Magick is really a solitary practice, but a little nudge can be given. Meaning I can give you information but not all of it because it is in your best interest to learn more for yourselves

read the article. [Dragon Magick can be found in Spell Casters Articles]

Dragon Magick is a very spiritual path, you cannot control them, you work with them. as Pasht said, they reveal themselves when you are ready. you can see them in the astral, but don't be too forward, or demanding. Dragons can scene the intent of a person, if they turn away from you, leave, do not chase after them as they have been known to attack. yes, they are astral, but like spirits and demons, astral beings can still cause harm. [if you are projecting, they can harm your astral self] it is a long, personal, difficult path, and it isn't for everyone. while you can grain power from it, and incorporate dragons into your spell casting, the majority of the time is spent reflecting, meditating, studying, and growing spiritually.

It is important to note that dragon magic has no historical references that have ever been presented to me outside of vague folklore regarding various creatures of myth (more like fables and the like than anything) or the celestial courts of various Asian cultures.

Most concepts of "Dragon Magick" have been derived from D.J.Conway and unverified personal gnosis.

What Awake says is true. The path was founded by D.J. Conway [not the best source of information at that] it has grown beyond her original teachings and now there are many different paths involving Dragons with some similarities. Many will [and I feel should] study Dragon myths from around the world, and some will combine Dragons with another branch. Historically its about as old as Wicca but unlike Gardner [who founded Wicca] Conway seemingly pulls her information from the sky. As I said, Dragon Magick is personal, since its basically you one on one with an astral dragon, and everyone's experience is different. The different clans have similarities and differences. I know more people who see Conway as a starting point than a prophet or something of the sort.

Wicca originates in the 1930s or so, according to Gardner. Stuff from D.J. Conway about Dragon Magic comes out in the 1990s.

Gardner makes a bunch of wild claims about the origin of Wicca, but the bottom line is that at least the sources he draws upon stem from older traditions. (Though, admittedly, most of the "witchcraft" traditions he sites are not that old, and most of the "pagan" references he makes are medieval - very few traditions that are considered pagan these days actually date all the way back to pre-christian influences)

If the books claim it is as old as Wicca, well... Yet one more reason why I am not impressed by D.J. Conway. Aside from the various folktales about dragons, the Celestial courts, etc. like I mentioned, there are no real traditions in this. It is not at all old. Her first book about dragon magic is not even ten years old yet.

Dragon magic has been around long before crackpot Conway. It's typically a family tradition passed down orally that started in Europe.

It's not easy to find reliable information on the subject because it's not as glamorous as DJ would have you believe, and again..it was mostly oral traditions and folklore. Kind of like Hoodoo in the sense that the good information is still kept to person to person discussion and the general crap can be found all over the net by anyone wanting to make a buck ;)
The open information isn't necessarily the "correct" information as far as tradition goes.

Fair enough. I've asked around a lot among such practitioners and that's the first time I've heard of any tradition of Dragon Magick that didn't stem from Conway, haha.
