I don't know

So I've been feeling really uneasy at night when I'm going to sleep. It might sound crazy but it all comes from my closet. Anyway, every time I do I ask whoever is listening to help, and then I just fall asleep right away. So one morning I felt someone there with me but there wasn't anyone there but I knew it was whoever comforted me the night before and I ask him or her to appear in my dream. But every time I ask I can't remember my dream. So I stopped asking and I remembered my dreams so I asked again and same thing happened and I couldn't remember it. So my question is why? If you can help that would be great. :)

Well you could possibly be waking up at a different time in the sleep cycle but I don't know how to fix it

This can be caused by a cognitive relay in your synapses in the areas of your brain that peak during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep which is the sleep state in which people are able to dream. What this means is that certain parts of your brain (the synapses) don't work properly when sending signals back and forth from each other and it is believed that this is one of the likeliest causes for people to forget their dreams, even when they try really hard to remember.

Of course aside from nuerological and sleep related causes this can be caused by a wide variety of psychological issues, such as subconscious deflection or netting in which your subconscious mind supresses the memory of your dreams for whatever reason of which there are many and it tries to prevent your aware conscious mind from remembering.

My best advice to give you is usually if you don't think about it too much, don't let your self become anxious and over worked about it, try not to consciously think about it, after you get it out of your mind even just for a little while, then you will most likely start to rememer things such as the dreams that have been eluding your memory.
