Are you new to meditating? What is it you do when you actually try it? When you first attempt to mediate it can take quite a long time, it becomes a lot easier with practice but if you're trying to force yourself into meditation then it probably wont work and could potentially cause you some pain and anxiety at your lack of success. Meditating is a fairly simple task but deceptively tricky to actually get right, basically you just need to relax but common pitfalls are trying to control your breathing or thinking about meditating, both will prevent success. Just get comfortable, I find sitting up right helps, and relax.

Assuming you are meditating correctly I also feel quite small during meditation and yet also quite large at the same time. It's as if you're aware of everything across all planes of existence yet you can't exactly conceive the idea and it's certainly not omnipotence, just a feeling of being connected to everything is all.

Ok so is it a kind of claustrophobic sensation? Are you saying the fire is in the center of you or what surrounds you? Is the sensation painful? Sorry to answer with more questions I'm just trying to get a feel for what it is you're describing.

There are certain methods of advanced meditation that focus the energies of the body on the fire seed, located in the solar plexus. This can actually generate heat if done correctly, and certain monks have actually been documented raising their core body temp to 109 degress! (Fahrenheit) So you could be accidentally channeling your bodies energy in a way you didn't want without realizing it, and if this is the case you need to be careful because you could actually end up physically and pyschologically hurting yourself. My advice is when you meditate, do so either laying down or sitting in a comfortable position with your back straight (against a wall can be helpful), then simply breath in for 4 sec, and breath out for 4 sec, then just continue, focusing on your breath and your counting. Try to forget everything else. At first you'll get distracted alot and start to drift off on different tangents of thought, but just keep bring yourself back to your breathing and counting and after a week or two you'll be meditating like a pro
