Plants+Caffeine

This has nothing to do with this site, but I'm doing a science fair project about how caffeine affects the growth of plants and I just want to know would watering the plants with soda kill them? I wouldn't want to do a science project that harms plants.

In all seriouswith, it is your project. You have a question: will watering plants with soda kill them? Make your hypothesis. It will kill the plants. Or it will not kill the plants. It will stunt the growth of plants. Then experiment. Just get a few plants and try giving soda to a couple and water to another couple plants. Record what you see over the time it takes however long it may be. I've done this my self actually.

Sodas are highly acidic, if you drop a copper penney into coke it will polish it up. We used it clean the vinyl tops on our cars. and yet we drink it, yeah I am guilty of that too. I think your plants would die.I would try coffee instead.
Blessings and good luck:

It would probably be better if you took caffeine tablets and dissolved them into water. You can find them pretty cheap. I'd use a number of plants, different groups with different strengths of caffeine (e.g. 200mg, 300mg, etc) and a group with just plain water. Soda has many other chemicals that can completely alter your results.

I actually saw this in my science class, we could make our own lab on testing different variables that affect plant growth, and someone decided to see if they could water a plant with soda. Needless to say, it looked better off dead.
