Harry Potter magic is popular; and none of it is real! Real magic is all around you. How about gravity? What holds all the planets in place? Is that not magic? Consider the skill needed for a heart transplant; eye surgery. Is that not magic? Look, really look, at the trees and plants all around you;it's magic. Consider the bumble bee. When the queen bee becomes pregnant in Autumn, all the rest of her hive die; she then burrows underground and sleeps until Spring, she then looks to build a nest and lay her eggs. Is that not magic? This post is using the internet, cyber space! Surely magic!
Plant some seeds. Add water and sunshine. Watch them grow. You cannot get much more magical than that!
However, to know magic is one thing. Learning to control it is something else again! As Lucan says, it can take a lifetime. All we can do, who have studied for many years, is to harness our own energy with the energy that is part of the Earth and the Universe (Magnetic) in order to spell, to heal, to change a situation. Sometimes we succeed; very often we do not!

magic isn't about power, and it doesn't have shortcuts.

Magic is about the journey, and how much effort has to be put into it. Without the journey, the destination is worthless.
