Failed by a"friend"

I have been told that a so called friend is telling that Im a witch and that I have cursed her home and family. I live in a small rural area in the south Witches are not welcome here. What can I do to stop this talk before it causes me and my child problems?

You could tell everyone that she's lying and crazy. Most people wouldn't believe her anyways.

Laugh. Laugh enthusiastically, as though it is absurd. And really, that shouldn't be hard, because such dramatic situations are always absurd. "Witch? Really? Come now. I didn't realize my house was made of gingerbread."

And then life goes on and everyone laughs with you at the accusations.

tell her to upgrade from the dark ages and that this isnt salem. stop blaming other people for her own problems and grow up. that should knock her down a notch.

Personal experience with this tells me that nobody is going to believe her and that she's just going to get laughed at in the end. I also live in the south in a small town where everyone is in everyone's business. A personal "friend" of mine went around telling people I had cast a spell on him, my mom found out and asked me if it was true. Knowing that she was a devout Christian I asked her, "Do you really believe something like that?" She ended up thinking he was just crazy and dismissed it as his incessant gossip.

Just laugh it off if people ask you. A lot of people in the south view witchcraft as a scary concept but don't believe it works.
