Ability Relinquishment

Hello. Now, it's not that I'm actually going to do this, but I'm just curious for knowledge's sake, but is it possible to sort of "discard"/relinquish an ability of your own, whether naturally in your blood (not developed but a natural gift) or developed? I do not plan on doing this to myself or anyone so don't judge me just because I'm curious of the limits and boundaries of an ability. :-) Thanks in advance to all who answer helpfully and thoughtfully!

yes, it is easily accomplished, however painful, I don't suggest it to anyone unless as a form of punishment.

Actually, it's not painful at all. All you have to do is stop using it. I did it once with seeing auras. It's also possible to regain these abilities, but it seems to be much harder the second time.

stopping the use is not relinquishing the ability, The way I took this anyway, was is there anyway to magickally relinquish an ability, like a ritual of some sort to make the ability to go away, and yes, if you do it that way, it is painful. I've had to do it, but only as a punishment. It is something that I never want to have to do again. It is ugly and unwelcoming magick.
If you simply stop using the ability (isn't always an option, I know I'm an empath....) it will still be dormant inside you.

Haha I posted this like 5 minutes ago and there are already like 3 or 4 answers. :-D ha ha Y'all are fast with it. Ok, thank you guys. I'm an Empath too and I know that if I ever tried to relinquish that ability it'd be impossible for me to do b/c I'd probably feel the pain I'm causing myself. . .

haha Yea, I know exactly what you mean. I have only been to 1 funeral/wedding in my life so far. . . And amusement parks are an "OK" environment, but when people start to eat before getting on the really bad rides. . . . I think you can finish that for yourself. lmfao My Empathy doesn't do well with the sickly people. :-)
