I found this story very good and thought I can share it.

One day a woman who ran the local beer shop decided she lacked customers, so she went to the bank of the river Umgeni, near Durban, and performed a ceremony to call upon the River Mother to bless her beer. She watched carefully and after a time found a piece of wood no bigger than a matchstick floating on the water. This she took the piece of wood home and placed it in the bottom of her beer. Then she made a fresh brew and poured it into the barrel. From that time onward, her show was always full of customers and the legendary fame of her beer spread far and wide. This attracted the attention of the police, and since brewing beer without a licence was illegal, the police invaded the premises to search for the illicit brew. They found the barrel and opened it, but all they found was a long snake that hissed at them. It was Mamalambo, protecting the women and her customers. When everyone returned after the police had left, the beer barrel was found to be full again and the dirnk even better than before.

I did found it very nice to hear unlike most of some of the other storys I had heard...

Here is a story about the Great Serpent of Hell...

A Sioux woman named Onwi-Menocha, which means 'Woman of the Moon', used to disappear from time to time into the forest. Her husband suspected her of meeting the Great Serpent and forced her to tell him by dancing the 'Dance of the Secret Loves', Which was intended to reveal the nature of an unlawful relationship. Onwi-Menocha covered herself in green body-paint and then proceeded to dance, her writhing movemonts suggesting to everyone that her lover was indeed the Great Sperent of Hell. Her husband demanded, as was his right, that she be killed, but she vanished once again and was seen no more in the land of the living. However, she continued to appear to her husband in dreams, assuring him that she was indeed with the Great Serpent, and that together they would protect his hunting trails.

The Great Serpent of Hell: Among the Peigan people of Canada, this is a huge creature which preys upon hunters and steals their catches.

Weird that he will protect them and not hunt them huh, I guess his ex-wife made the serpant to do it since he lost his love.

This story is very good and I liked it very much...

An island rose from the middle of the lake, and it was observed that no bird would fly over it and that sometimes strains of music could be heard drifting from it over the water. In ancient times, a door in a nearby rock would open every mayday, and those who entered would find themselves in a passage that led to the island. There, to their amazement, they discovered an enchanted garden full of the choicest fruits and flowers, inhabited by the Tylwyth Teg, whose ethereal beauty was only equalled by their courtesy and affability. Each guest would be entertained with music and told of whatever future events the fairies deemed right to tell them. The only stipulation was that the island should be considered sacred, and nothing must be taken away. One day, an ungrateful man pocketed the flower he had been presented with. This did him no good, for as soon as he touched the shore the flower vanished and the man himself fell senseless. The Tylwyth Teg were so angry as this sacilege that the way to the island was closed forever. One man tried to drain the lake to see what was there, but a horrible figure rose from the water and commanded him to stop.

I did liked this story but not the ending so much... Harry potter had this monster in one of their movies...

It happened that a poor crippled man called Ally Murray who lived on the charity of the miller had an encounter with a Brollachan. One dark night, as he lay beside the fire, a Brollachan who lived in the millstream entered, drawn by the warmth of the fire. It was the child of a Fuath. The Brollachan had eyes and a mouth but could only say two words, 'Mi-phrein' and 'Tu-phrein', or 'myself' and 'thyself'. It cast itself fown by the fire just as Ally was throwing on another log as it had begun to burn low. Sparks flew out and burnt the Brollachan who cried out. The Fuath from the millstream rushed in shrieking, 'who's burnt my Brollachan?' It replied to its mother, 'Me and thee.' Giving Ally a hard stare, the Fuath grumbled, 'Well if it had been anyone else, I'd be revenged on them.' Ally slipped away with a sack over his head and lay down in the machinery of the mill, hoping he would survive until the morning. He was fortunate because the Fuath had disgustedly gone to seek her revenge elsewhere, chasing a poor woman who had been out that night.

Brollachan: This shapeless, unformed monster is fearsome creature living in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Its very shapelessness strikes terror into the heart, and the Brollachan assume whatever shape you mopst fear in your imagination.

Fuath: A tribe of spectrals monsters from the folk traditions of the Scottish Highlands. Talking a variety of forms, the Fuath or Fuathann live close to lochs, rivers and the open sea, indicating that they are essentially water monsters. A Fuath is the mother of the Brollachan, a malevolent creature given to attacking children.

Magick was misused in this story... Don't try to do the same thing...

Once upon a time a novice monk fell in love with a serving girl in his local tea house. For some time he courted her, then remembering his vows left her and returned to his monastery. So angry was the girl that she set out to learn magick, and when she had done so took upon her the form of the dragon. She then went to the monastery where her former suitor was now a monk, but when he saw her he hid beneath a great bronze bell. Kiyo belched forth a great spurt of flame that melted the bell, killing the cowardly monk.

Lesson to be learned... never use magick to get back at someone.

Ikaki is a supernatural tortoise who lives behind the ancient village Olomo, rarely allowing himself to be seen. He made forays to the edge of the forest to dance, but whenever he did so, people came to watch him. He always sang a warning song to them 'Remember my words. Don't anyone touch me. I am Chief Tortoise, Chief Grey Hair.' But the people enjoyed his dances so much that they kept calling him back. Eventually, he danced and sang, 'Amegage. Human meat, yum-yum. Amegage. Human bones, yum-yum.' Then, as he raised his right legs, all the people in the east died; as he raised his left legs, all the people in the west died. Ikaki went back into his shelter of the deep forest never to be seen again. However, the few survivors left on Earth came together in order to imitate the great tortoise's dancing. They were uneasy about the part where they must lift their legs, though, and so they consulted the oracle of Chuku that told them to modify their movements to avoid further deaths.
