A book I am making

I am making a fictional book with many spirits I have heard of, do I ask for the spirits permissions first? because I don't want to seem rude for not asking the spirits permission for using them as characters in my book:( please help, I know that it isn't your problem but it would be very helpful, thank you for taking your time to read this and considering helping me :)

Reminds me of the author Sherrilyn Kenyon. She uses a large amount of demonology and even includes the names of specific demons, and gods, such as Malphas, Asmodea, and many Greek gods.

I think it would only be polite to ask for permission. But if it is a fictional book, you should have fictional spirits, Gods and Goddesses. Don't you think?

Most spirits I know enjoy the publicity, though there are those who would not enjoy it, so I suggest contacting them. I have known of works co-authored by entities so the worst case scenario is the entity doesn't give you permission but appreciates you asking, and the best case scenario is that you have someone to help you.

However, few beings would lash out for not asking for permission.

I'm writing a YA fiction book concerning fairies. Should I probably ask for permissions too?

With the fae, you probably won't need to unless you base it on individuals, the fae vary so greatly that I doubt they will take offence at your interpretation of them, but they may if you are basing it solely on one individual.

^ What she said.

It's still worth contacting them, though not for permission so much as for help.
