Spell making.

How does a person go by creating a spell? Iv read a few detailed articles and they all seem pretty basic instructions of just having an intention, an incantation and ingredients. I don't understand how spell making can be that simple? Also how do you create a book of shadows.

Spell making is really that simple. Once you have a basic idea of how spells and magic work, going about creating one really only takes a few basic steps. How simple or complicated you want it to be after that is completely up to you and your preffered style of spell work.

A book of shadows is a collection of things that pertain to your magical practice. You can make it however you would like. The things you put in it will be very personal, although some common ones are correspondances, moon phases, spells, rituals, etc. I personally have mine in a three ring binder so I can move pages around. Some people prefer a journal or notebook, and even others have it online. Be creative and do something that works for you.

I wrote a lengthy post on how to go about creating your own spells. You can find it at http://www.spellsofmagic.com/read_post.html?post=833056

You could use sigils. Very easy.

Also, you could find ways to make spells your way. If you prefer using a premade method, its understandable. I tried it before my current practice. Spell making is not my forte, but I know there's no "proper" way.
