Tips for Learning Theban

Hey!

I'm currently teaching myself how to read and write in Theban. I'm not asking for someone to teach me it, but I'm asking if any of you who are fluent with it have any tips to help make learning it a bit easier? I'd appreciate advice!

You will be surprised what you can find on Google with the proper key words.I learned half of what I know off of the internet
Searching is the key here.We are lucky,in the old days guys like John Dee had to travel the world and visit different libraries
To learn their crafts. What took them a lifetime we can do in a decade.

DawnMaiden,

I've been studying Theban for about four months now. It is difficult, but I study with a partner, flashcards, and writing paper. I've found it easier to learn each symbol visually, before actually writing them. I've memorized each symbol using the cards and now I'm basically writing from memory, then comparing my writings to the actual symbol. That way I'll know which ones need the most attention. The hardest part I've seen thus far is actually reading a complete sentence without pausing and thinking about each symbol.

Thanks! I like the flashcard idea. I actually found a workbook someone published this past April called "The Original Theban Workbook." and it's literally like a handwriting book you would get in kindergarten except it's all in Theban. The worksheets are designed with activities to help you learn to read and write fluently in it. I'm going to try it though one I get it.

I'm trying to learn Theban fluently as well. One thing I like to do is find short children's stories and copy+paste them in a word processor in the Theban text. I have Theban as a font on my Mac and doing that helps in learning to read the words as a whole instead of each individual letter. Just like you read English.
