Moon

The Full Moon is always a very powerful time to work magic; and now is the time of the Snow or Storm Moon...
This Moon has unique qualities which you can bring to your spellwork.
At the snow or Storm Moon you will be able to work very powerful spells for purification, banishment, fertility rites, spells for new beginnings, spells for perseverence in any pursuit...
Don't forget, Imbolc or Candlemas will soon be upon us as well!(February 2nd)This is a truly special day for Witches and Wizards; a day that honors the triple Goddess Brigit and one of the eight Sabbats that mark the turning of the Wheel of the Year.
A very ancient Imbolc tradition is to light a candle in every window at sunset on the 2nd of February - to honour the return of the Lord of the Sun. You may like to try it...
Whatever your particular beliefs, magic is real, and Spring is coming!

and there are a FEW blood moons this year two April 4, 2015 September 28, 2015 that are in a series of 4 blood moons that started last year (and as you know 4 in a row or almost in a raw anyway is a weary rare occasion, that is awesome for spells of all kinds, but thanks for the info, this is the first time i have heard of a snow moon, but its as i just gathered more of a religious term and has no real distinction from a normal full moon, anyway good post)

oh and just remembered the fore blood moons are associated with a doomsday prophecy in the bible, just a fun fact in case if anyone still believes in those (as a few new ones come along every week these days, i'm starting to think that people want doomsday)

yay another doomsday in my lifetime. isn't learning fun. ^_~

you kind of took a bunch of stuff and smashed it together. one i believe the next is the Quickening Moon [don't quote me, i very recently started using the names for the moons] second, while Imbolc or Candlemas is in February, its either for the Triple Goddess of the Wiccan faith or Brigit or the Celtic faith, she's not the same deity. but it is a time for both. also, the God returned on Yule, this is a holiday for the Goddess as the Maiden. its a good time for rededication, cleansing, and rituals to bring balance. and of course, making candles.

not entirely sure if you're being insulting or not Wolf.

Earth has one moon [we all know this] but ancient man named each one to help with time keeping. the one in January was was the Wolf Moon. the reason its called this is because in most places the nights are still long and you can hear wolves, coyotes, jackals, so on, howling. Februarys quickening moon, we see glimpses of spring, like longer days and some parts see less snow. after that i think its the storm moon when, as the name says, we see storms [March/April are know for its weather] you also have things like the seed moon for planting, the corn/harvest moon for harvesting, and the blood moon for winter slaughter.

this also goes with the wheel of the year. not everyone celebrates all 8 [some celebrate more or less holidays depending on their faith] each point has something to do with the world around us, like solstices, equinoxes, and mid-points for things like harvests or candlemaking or whatever else.

the names of the moons never really effected me, but at some point last year i decided to incorporate them into my esbats, so i haven't memorized them all in order, so don't quote me on the exact names for each, however, they each have a name like a 'blue moon' has a name.

I am neither insulting nor intriguing. If moon size does matter why don't every moon have a new name. Since everything has its importance. And the reason for ur january full moon to be wolf moon is total illogical becoz it is proved to be opposite for different hemispheres.

i'm in the northern hemisphere, i said 'ancient man' observed the world around him and named them. he/she didn't then call Australia and tell them 'January is the wolf moon', in his/her little area January didn't exist, just knowing during this given moon its cold, i can hear wolves, the days are getting longer. as time went on calendars were invented, so moon names didn't matter as much. in the northern hemisphere it's Imbolc, most in the southern aren't celebrating it, most are celebrating Lughnasadh because its summer for them. following moon names doesn't matter much, its a choice, so you can think its strange, but it doesn't change the fact people historically followed them.
