What's best to study? That's a hard question to precisely answer.

I would suggest learning about the craft: it's history, applications, societal viewpoint. Many would then suggest you learn what is popularly referred to as "the basics". Use the search bar and you'll find a variety of posts concerning the basics.

I'd suggest also that you find things you're interested in and do independent research on them.
