Confirmation of Sources

It is often seen that people of magic interest read something on the Internet or in a book- once and end up using that piece of information in say a discussion, as fact.

I am writing this because many members on here will do the same thing; without checking their source of information.
Reading something once does make one a master of the specific topic therefore does not make one suitable to decide whether or not that source is truthful.

Check your sources, please; before going into chat expecting to use it in a conversation.

Make sure it has back up resources and the information spans out with anything else mentioned. Check those resources mentioned and make sure they span out as well.

Possibly look into other places of that subject (that are known for their validity) that have nothing to do with the original information you viewed; check to see if they correspond and give the same sort of information. If they don't, then you know you read something wrong.

I've seen too many beginners not use such precautions when in chat get hounded for being "fluffy"; so please, just start checking your sources.

Just some insight on effective debate,

Hopefully. I really believe people should do this on a regular basis when learning magic, especially when they're first starting out.
