Gods and Men(or women)

Do you think that Gods and Goddesses today still have offspring with mortals? There are plenty of myths and stories back in the day stating that "Apollo had a kid with this girl" or "Aphrodite had this kid".
I know you're probably already thinking about fluffy topics. If someone told you "I'm the daughter of Zeus" you'll immediately answer:
"No you're not."
But think and approach the subject from a different angle. If they had half mortal offspring back in ancient times, why shouldn't they do it today?
Not physically have children, but perhaps, spiritually. People claim to have spiritual mothers and fathers. I even proclaim this.
But are they actually parents? Or are they role models/someone to look up to or someone to work with?

This is something to ponder on. I would like the opinions of many just out of curiosity.

One thing to keep in mind is that in older times, a person who was extremely devoted to a particular deity and/or obviously favored by that deity would be known as a "son" or "daughter" of said being. So to say that someone was "a son of Apollo" could have meant that he was a favored devotee of Apollo.

I guess that's what I was trying to piece together when I meant an offspring by spirit.

Within the Kemetic Orthodoxy (my religion/practice) it is perfectly natural for one to be a "son" or "daughter" of this or that Kemetic deity. This is not meant in a literal way, it is meant in a spiritual way. Originally the terms "Parent" and "Beloved" were used in regards to the relationship one has with the deities involved, however it was later discovered through a Saq for Sekhmet that our Parent(s) are the creator(s) of our ba, while the Beloved(s) are the creator(s) of our ka. The ba is the eternal soul, which resides within the ka. The ka is essentially the spirit of/within this life (while some members ascribe to reincarnation others do not).

I hope I gave a bit of a spin on this.

I personally believe that those Gods / Goddesses of old that bred with humans were aliens who claimed to be Gods / Goddesses. Other Gods / Goddesses were members of the community who came back as spirits and were worshipped as dieties. Could it still happen today? Sure aliens could show up anytime but I doubt our Scientific leaders would sit idelly by if they claimed to be Gods / Goddesses. Just my view on it.

Now this is a bit complicated.
I personally don't believe that we should believe in every myth. After all, nothing would stop prople from making up stories.I mean, see nowadays. The gods were named demons from the christians.Nothing put them back in their place.
Then, we don't know if the gods and goddesses are embodied or not.But then there is the concept of astral birth.
At the other hand, there are the godspouses. They are under great skepticism, but they claim to have love relationships with the divines.Well, who knows...
My opinion is that yes, they could have offspring with humans nowadays, but they don't, either because some of them personally don't like the idea, or because the conditions may be harder nowadays.

Within Northern Tradition Paganism, there is also the theory that gods have and do get involved in human genes. Essentially what happens is that the deity possesses an individual and has intimate relations with someone of the opposite gender. As a result, the deity is then able to manipulate the genes of the individual being created at their conception and make them more like the deity.

The idea of godspousing is also widely excepted within this path.

Yep. Both of these are peer corrobrated personal gnosis within a highly respected tradition on this website. No, neither of the positions are highly respected by other pagans, even of completely different traditions. Yes, godspousing does pop up in other traditions (I've seen a few brides of Anubis).

If you don't believe me on this check out one of Kaldera's books sometime. He has testimonies within them about both godspousing and the deity-blooded.

I Too. Believe there are hybrids of God's and humans and other animal species. I was so ignorant to the idea of I don't know anything. Then I had to open my mind to maybe no one really knows the truth we feel it. I am ready to get this over with. We deserve to be who we truly are. Embrace it. And love it.
