Help! Black feather
By:
Hello, not familiar with much magik. However; I have been told that my neighbor is a voodun priestess of dark magik.

I bring this up only because I have had to use cleansing sage and salt protection in my home to rid bad things that have happened. Then last 2 days my hubby found a solid black feather on our front porch in same place. I just found out about it today. Past few days everyone in home has felt ill. What does the black feather mean, and is there a way to reverse it?

Same place as what?
The feather may be just a bird that has shed a feather, and it has blown onto your porch. Why should it mean anything at all?
With nothing on your Bio, how do we know that you are not just wanting attention?

I have a feeling it's just a feather and you're looking for ways to put unlikely things together.

Being told your neighbor is part of Vodou doesn't necessarily make it true. What it does do, however, is incite paranoia - especially with folks who don't know better.

I won't say that black feathers can't be used to harm people but you typically see black feathers (chicken) used to help people by uncrossing them and with different methods of protecting. That's the primary function.

Keep in mind that once you have a fear of something, you tend to psychologically trick yourself into many physical reactions.
And this is a perfect example - you were told this person is evil, ran across something you haven't seen before and now everyone seems to be ill.

It's most likely a coincidence or a reaction from fear.

Black in magick isn't always used in a negative sense. If you found rust water spots, then I would be suspicious of foul play.

Since you are obviously knowledgeable enough to use sage and salt on your home, I presume you have some knowledge in omens and signs? Instead of blaming your neighbor, I would instead consider that this was a sign of the impending illness that struck your family. Blackbirds, especially crows and ravens are considered messengers from the spirit world. It is not at all inappropriate to cleanse a home by magick means during illness to speed recovery. Our ancestors did so too because they believed malicious spirits to be the cause.

The best way to handle this is to calm down, recover from the illness (this is the flu season after all), and continue with the sage and salt. With your panic alone, you could create a curse on yourself and your family. You need to find confidence in something to protect you so that you feel comforted and safe so that this doesn't happen again.

I agree with the last reply. The raven is a very powerful symbol. They are looked to with great reverence and respect, and if indeed it was a raven feather, than chances are it was simply a warning.

Calm down. Don't blame the neighbor. And stop with the needing to blame magick. I find feathers in my path a lot. I consider them gifts, yes even black ones. Keep up with the cleanse and protection and you'll be fine. BB...
