How to make a candle!

Alright, many of you teen whiches are still in the broom closet. Some of you can't afford to buy your own candles. So, I'm going to be showing you how I make my candles from mother Earth.

You will need:Glass container, sand, cooking oil (any will do), tooth pics, and cotton balls.

Fill the glass container with sand, pour about half an inch of cooking oil. Then wrap cotton around the toothpic, then cover it with oil. Then place it the tooth pic up and then light it! It stays lit for about 3 hours!! You can add color sand, and decorate the container etc.. If you really put your thought in this, you will find it symbolic!

Im one of those people who are unable to get materials like you mentioned and I have been using pieces of paper with different colored pentagrams as candles which sucked cause they dont last very long so this is so much better so thank you.

Sounds neat. But I wonder how sand and cooking oil would burn

Very interesting! I normally just use an electric candle, but I like this idea!

cool. i tend to save the melted wax, then melt it down again using a sort of double boiler [my actual double boilers for chocolates, so i just put a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water] i place all the cooled melted pieces into the bowl, and once their melted, i pour it into a container. i originally used the bottom of a milk carton, but i'm now working with mason jars, i'm just always worried if it's too hot the glass would shatter. for the wick, i use twine, i try to use the twine with the wax covering, never tried wool, i think it would burn too quickly. i've tried holding the twine in place, but the drying takes a bit, so i've started tying it onto a stick or a pencil and resting it on the jar lid or top of the container, then pouring the wax in so it's already in place.
