Agreed. You'll have fun too. When you begin alot of professional mentor's normally make you bored out of your mind; if you have any questions as all, please feel free post.

Witchdreamer: "How do you become a witch when you were not born to be?"

Study it, you'll figure it out if your dedicated to your culture.

I'm glad to hear that, we are always looking for followers of magic. Heres a little suggestion, take a penny, flush it down the toilet; and just imagine how it goes down the drain. Imagination is a key, the ability to concept any items if its a bird to a laptop is to remember; life-force requires power, so does nine volt batteries.

Maintain a healthy relationship to yourself, enjoy your life, and be sure you always think out of the box. You will be able to expand your thoughts to whatever you hope to grasp.

If you are able to understand what life-force is, you will be able to be in control of your energy, and you'll be able to strengthen your ability to be a person more better then you normally are able to.

Being in control of yourself and your mind is the aspect of any sort of magic, remember that. Having those will benefit your mind to be open often and you'll go further.

Welcome to the path.
If you wish to start out with magic, you have to gain some knowledge about it, or at least about it's simplest form. This form of magic is called "the basics", but I call it "direct magic".
Here's a recommended link for starters (written and published by a member under the name Starrie):

Trust me, after gaining some knowledge about such thing - you will be able to cast your spells freely :)

And now about the "fun" part. Indeed, sometimes spells, rituals, and rites need to be fun. As witches it is our duty not to get too bored when performing magic ;). I do find it as fun sometimes, for examples:
Practices like dancing have been part of rituals, spells, and rites for as long as magic has been practiced ( I guess that you can call this fun). When dancing it is often seen women wearing anklets and such for the shear joy of the beauty in its nature. Adding bells to your clothes is also common and is not only seen as a good way to invoke a spiritual entity but the sound is amazing when dancing around a bonfire when practicing an annual rite.
For another example, some deities present entertainment, so it only makes sense to do something entertaining for one's god. For example the musical instruments being used or even actual props being used in a play/performance to literally entertain a specific deity.

But I take magic seriously, so I do not cast my spells or rituals only for fun, but i find performing some forms of magic as very enjoyable ! I know that it has not been asked here, but some people mentioned something about having fun with your rituals and personal spells.

For some additional pointers, I would suggest you to read the Tips section here on the site. These are tips for casting spells:

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/tips.html

And as was suggested above, I also suggest you do some studying and such before jumping straight into casting. I think it's beneficial to learn what you're doing before trying to do it. "The Basics" are what most people begin with around here. There is the article provided above. You can also type "the basics" in the search bar found in the top lefthand corner of this page. This will search for articles and forum threads containing this information. Do some reading!

Best of luck.
