prester john's land

I don't know if this is real or not i found this in a book.

In the 12th century,a letter adressed to the byzantine emperor manuel began to circulate around europe. The letter clamied to be written by a mysterious preist king called prester john,who ruled a huge christian kingdom in east. His kingdom was a fabulous land,brimiming with riches and untold wealth. Unicorns and dragons roamed the beautiful land,while a fountain of youth kept all it's citzens forever young. It had many strange and wondrous beasts, including salamanders that spun fireproof silk!
These letters naturally fired the imagination of all those who heard of prestor john's kingdom. The only problem was that no one knew where it was. Many went in search of it, but no one ever succeeded in discovering this mysterious kingdom. Eventually, people decided that the letters were hoax and such prester john's land as such never existed.
So is this true or hoax.

while i've never heard of it, i don't want to call it a hoax, a legend works better, like Atlantis. 12 century in my opinion is pushing it a bit for dragons and unicorns [there's believe they traveled to the astral from the physical] myself, i don't believe it to be real. maybe a really beautiful land with unique creatures, but the fountain of youth, no. above all what proves it's a legend and not real, with all the technology today, we've seen a lot, and [with the exceptions of jungles] know all the land in the world, so i'm about 95% sure it's not real. makes for an interesting story though.
