What are "vibrations"?

When I read books about the spiritual world,
I keep seeing this word called "vibrations."

What are those, and why are they important?

It's just a fancy new age term for energy.

You're 'vibration' is the basically your state of being and awareness. Your vibration is 'constructed' of your thoughts and attitudes. So if you're happy you might say you're of a high vibration, and if you're sad you might say you're vibrating low. Someone with high awareness of themselves and the universe are generally of a high vibration. Those who are judgmental and close-minded are of a low vibration. Like attracts like, so your vibration is very important to you.

Why would we be aware of ourselves and the universe more if we are in a high vibration?
Also, why are our vibrations high if we are happy?

I recommend a book by Penney Pierce called "Frequency" .it explains vibrations, waves from the vibrations, and more.. plus it comes with a link for a free audio-dialogue about meditation.

You're vibration is the frequency of your state of being. High and low, are just meant for you to "understand" because our brains work in terms of duality.
