Wands and Wand cores.

I read on another forum post that you would use any stick that feels right and that takes your eye. But then they also said about cores, and im not sure what you can use as your core. Any more information on wands and anything on cores will be made useful.

Information on wood for the wand as well.

Blessed Be

well i guess it could mean the wood its made out of... but if its not then i would guess it is refering to harry potter and how wands have cores in this FICTIONAL story. and this is FICTION.

you can use any a stick or a tree branch on making a core of your wand.. attach it to the handle and you are done..
All you have to do is to bless it..

Quartz or any crystal you have..

I"m not sure about the subject of wand cores but I'm guessing they mean the substance from which the whole wand is made of. But a stick or branch works just fine from what I've been told.

I've never heard of wand cores.

However, when making a wand you can, as previously stated, use the small branch of a tree and carve it down to suit your needs. You could also make one from clay or use a dowel rod from a local hardware store and trim it to suit your requirements or specific needs. Then, you would consecrate or bless it for ritual purposes as you would with any of your other magical tools.

The wand material is entirely up to you, but if you do use material from a tree you could look into what trees correspond to certain things such as protection, divination, etc to add a little extra magic to the process. Also, you could simply make one from one of your favorite trees or bushes. For example, I made my wand from the branch of a lilac bush, as it is my favorite of flowering bushes.

My witch teacher never used a wand. I haven't either. She used to say that only "silly" wizards with pointed hats and flowing robes, use wands. A wand is merely an aid, a tool. An Athame works just as well. You can even cast a circle using only your hands. You can buy very ornate wands. You can decorate your own. But really, any twig will do.

When people talk about wand cores, I would assume they are talking about self-made wands that do not use branches. These wands are made of pipes, aluminum foil, or any material that you could use.

These types of wands are built up in layers, most of the time from the inside out. A common example is using a copper wire, insulating it with a softer material such as cloth, and then covering it with a copper pipe. The core of the wand would be the copper wire and fabric.

Another assumption is the etheric center of the wand; the part that really makes the Magick happen. This is the energy that resonates from the wand and yourself mixed together (or just your energy if your wand is simply your index finger). This energy is personal and different for everyone and can only be defined by you, since this is your energy.

Also, it is only silly if you feel like it. Everything in Magick is really a matter of preference and shouldn't be judged as it limits creativity (there is, however, making sure that you are serious about what you do and are not frivolous).

Both Konstantinos and Franz Bardon speak of using a magnetized core for magnetic magic.

I have searched, researched and read numerous articles on wand creation views and methods. Franz Bardon's Magic Wand suggests amber powder as an inner condenser core inside a wand. The wand already is a condenser. It condenses/focuses/concentrates the will. In a way, the wand is a training tool to focus the mind's enery of will for one specific declared (the spell, encantation) goal. The solid (it can be liquid) condenser inside the core of the wand can be a mixture/blend of any magical herbs you read about when you google magical herbs or herbal shops. At a wiccan website I visited, I recall that wiccan stating that she had stuffed her wand's core with a palm plant called "Dragon's blood" you cand find this as a solid, powder or liquid. Franz Bardon suggested Amber powder stuffed inside a copper tube stuffed inside of a wand drilled out. I did this. I drilled out a 9/16 in. wide hole, 14 in deep with a 16 in. long drill bit I purchased at Home Depot. It was excruciatingly slow, meticulous, precise work. It was a labor of love for me. It's a hobby. I made my own magical tools. You may have heard of condenser cores in a different way. Ever heard of a Phoenix feather inside of Harry Potter's wand or a Unicorn hair inside of a wand? These were mentioned in the first Harry Potter movie at Diagon alley's Ollivander's Wand Shop.
But the way I drilled the long deep hole into the wand was;
I first had a clamp on top of a picnic table at my back porch. I wrapped the wand with a piece of smooth cloth then, I clamped the wand with the tip facing me about shoulder level. I then got a piece of 1 x 2 about 5 in. long and drilled a 9/16 in. hole into it so I could use this to stablize my drilling into my wand. I had bought a 9/16 in wide 16 in. long drill bit at a Home Depot. I tried using a portable drill it was not strong enough for the wood's interior. I had to use a corded drill. I drilled 14 in. deep then I bought a 9/16 in wide x 12 in long copper tubing (normally used for A/C work) inexpensively at Home Depot, about 4 bucks. Do not buy the end caps for this. Use mud or clay. Now, stuff the copper tubing with a strong herbal blend that you pick and choose from the many offered at herbal shops or, stuff it only with Dragon's blood powder or, stuff it with amber powder then seal the end with mud or clay. Then, stuff cinnamon or an herbal blend or Dragon's blood into wand's core then the stuffed tubing then some more herbs then, I used wood putty/filler to plug up the rest of the hole and to stuff, stabilize and to gorilla super glue a clear quartz crystal for the tip of the wand. After the wood putty was dry, I put a light layer of gorilla super glue on top of the wood putty near the crystal. Believe me this stays in place and looks alot better than tying it down with wire. So there you go. Good luck in your wand endeavor. No matter what it looks like, admire it. Because it is a God given talent that motivated you to do so. My respects to you. Ok, now that you have created a wand. Do you know how to use it? Check out my blog on "How To Use A Wand" This will give you more insight than anyone else around here nor at any other website. Just give me some credit when you start to talk about using your wand, ok?
