Magickal Perfumes

Ok so the uses of Magickal Herbs and Potions , oils etc is certainly familiar with many of the people interested and skilled in esotery .

However I noticed that not so many knew of uses of "magickal perfumes"(*1) or colognes .

Pharmacists and cosmeticians would tell You that a cologne is a less scented perfume as it contains more distilled water , alcohol and less essental oils.
True that , but in magick colognes are used more , probably because they tend to smell more natural and as they evaporate faster they are a bigger boost to spells :)

Also Perfumes today are all but natural . Person having basic knowledge of Organic chemistry might notice that some perfumes are liquid toxic and contain acetyl chlore/aluminium hydrate and all sort of E tagged substances , artificial colors and artificial scents . Do let Yourselves be fooled ( ! ) no one have yet completely decoded chemical compaundance of essential oil ( any ) let alone made it synthetically . Therefore , such a perfume has no place in magick as not only that it is useless but also an potential offense to force we work with .

Most of the colognes are still made traditionally with essential oils ( 70 % of alcohol , 20% of distilled water and 10% of essential oils , one or all of the alcochol can be replaced by herbal tincture ) and ones I will mention are used in magick for many years and are still by today knowledgeable practitioners . There are some more , but the 4 I am will metion are used widely and a lot .

*FLORIDA WATER - used for purification , cleansing , spiritual work and blessings
May be added in small amounts to uncrossing and cleansing baths

*Pretty much same uses has KANAGA WATER , except it uses Ilang Ilang as main ingredient.

*Another very popular Hoodoo perfume is HOYT's WATER used in gambling , luck matters and for dressing mojo hands /gris grises

*QUEEN ELISABET'S WATER or HUNGARY WATER is not a typical Hoodoo cologne , but it is widespread famous for it's rejuvenation and youth containing properties. It is alos considered a "glamour potion" that renders wearer look more apealing and handsome/pretty.

Now for this to be more then dry theory I will share two of the recipes , one being courtesy of Miss Catherine Yornwood , and this and alternative formulas can be found in book called “Voodoo Hoodoo spellbook” by Denise Alvarado , and another being unoversal recipe of Hungary water(*2)

FLORIDA WATER #1
_________________

oil of bergamot 3 fluid ounces
oil of lavender 1 fluid ounce
oil of lemon 1 fluid ounce
oil of cloves 1 1/4 fluid drachms
oil of cinnamon 2 1/2 fluid drachms
oil of neroli 1/2 fluid drachms
essence of jasmine 6 fluid ounces
essence of musk 2 fluid ounces
alcohol 8 pints
rose water 1 pint

Hungary Water

The oldest surviving recipes call for distilling fresh
- rosemary (and possibly thyme)
- with strong brandy,
while later formulations contain
-lavender,
-mint,
-age,
marjoram,
-costus,
-orange blossom and lemon.

So these can be worn on person , added to potions , florwashes , baths , sprinkled , aspersed , sprayed and alike . Feel free to be creative .

*1 Magickal perfumes , this is how Conjurers / Rootworkers usually refer to these , You may call them what You like. The term can refer to oil blends too.

*2 This is the recipe that combines only the base ingredients or the ingredients used in most of the known recipes for Hungary water ( and I saw at least 20 they all used above listed except the costus , however the experts in the matter made this a basic formula , and I agree on all ingredients but costus , that is why I would regard it as optional )
