One has to be very careful of rainwater. Many years ago, rainwater was very "pure". That is not so today! Rainwater now contains many chemicals and acids. The best water is from your tap/faucet.

In response to Brysing, you can check the quality of the water you are using if you plan on drinking it or injesting it in any way.

http://www.wikihow.com/Test-Water-Quality This is a simple guide to testing water.

I don't know particularly of any spells or rituals that incorporate rainwater specifically, but there are some that use water in general. For example, you can use water as a scrying too and use that in or before any spell or ritual work. I'm sure you can replace general water with rainwater if that feels right to you, or you could create your own spell or ritual with it. Just remember to be cautious of the water you are using.

In our soceity as Bryson said, rain water is not as safe as it was, say 100 -25 years ago.

First rain water can be used for scrying, or other divination methods, blessings, cleansings, and some others like anionting.

I did not say that rainwater should never be used. I said "be careful". The acid in rainwater has killed thousands of trees in Europe.Even washing your face in it could not always be safe!

I know some people use it for a type of holy water, it's also used in potions, but primarily I hear people use it in beauty spells [along with May dew] but you could substitute it with tap water if you wish. some people just think it's purer to use rain water since its natural [but it's not always the safest as it's been pointed out] was there a specific spell you were hoping to cast with it?
