Energy use for physical

People say you can't alter your DNA, move stuff with your mind, etc. But what if you use energy to manifest the physical world? Is this possible or am I just restating the previous statement in a fancier way?

Also, if not, are there any physical uses for magic, or is it all energy manipulation?

This post is kind of scrambled words, so tell me if it needs rewording. Also, I wasn't really sure which category this would have fit in.

It is impossible to change your physical form in any way.

However, if you can astral project, you can perhaps "shapeshift" or grow wings or something along those lines in the astral plain.
