Celebrating samhain

You probably have seen in former posts that i found out how to celebrate alone. Now i have a new problem. My family wants to go to a movie that night to avoid having to buy candy and standing by the door. I am allowed to stay home alone but i realized i cant really celebrate if i have to keep answering the door. If i dont it would be rude cuz they will know im home (im still scared of the dark and need some sort of light on). They will see that light and know. I wish i could persuade a family member to stay home and answer the door for me. My parents and my bro refuse. Am i just out of luck?

Leave the porch light off. Don't have up any outdoor decorations whatsoever for Halloween -- no jack-o-lanterns even. Don't answer the door. They'll get the hint.

Not sure how your house is set up, but if you could avoid the main floor, keeping those lights off, people will assume you're out of candy or gone to bed. You could also put a sign on the door, or put the candy in a bowl on the porch and hope the honour system still works. Keeping your porch light off and no jack-o-lanterns is a good idea. Final option, hand out candy until say 8 then do your celebration.
