Personal Totem Pole

If you're unfamiliar with it, its a meditation for seeing your chakras-instead of seeing them as balls of energy/light, they are associated with animals! Every personal totem pole is different from everyone else's. I'm going to try the meditation later on. Has anyone else done it, or been successful with it?

Indeed, I have. Being a nature shaman, practices such as these are sometimes more useful and practical than colors. However, I hardly use the animals to replace the chakra pools. I use a bit more blunt way:
Base of the totem: a bear. It represents stability and structure, strength to overcome staggering over things in life.
Next level: A rabbit. It represents the ability to be free and to be wise enough to avoid problems before they start.
Next: an eagle. This part represents clarity of mind, the ability to keep a calm mind in situations, and to focus on the prey, not the horizon.
Final: this is a bit more personal, and slightly unorthodox compared to most shaman practices, a wraith. It represents the ability for your spirit to be strong, and attack the challenges that first attacked it.
Hope this helps.

Another note when I said I hardly use the animals to replace the pools; I do meditate on them, but more in the physical world. There is a stream that coincidentally looks like a chakra stream my goal ever month is to go down to it, and clean out each of the pools so the waters flow freely. Before and after each pool I clean, I meditate on that chakra the pool represents. Off the point, I would have to say that is the clearest stream you will ever see in a forest such as mine. You can see the minnow and plant life so clean and clear-like.
