Past Lives? Really?
By: / Beginner

I've heard plenty of claims of people remembering their past lives. I also know that we as witches have tendencies of putting our selves in trances that resemble a hypnotic states.

That last piece of information is important because hypnosis is a real, observable, and recorded phenomena which is capable of modifying and especiallly creating false memories. This can explain the 'past life' experiences some people have.

Has anyone experienced remembering a past life, which wasn't a famous historical figure, and then found evidence that those memories belonged to a real person?

I'd really like to hear some of your stories and thanks in advance ^_^

Some people believe in past lives. Some do not. I do not. When we die, whether buried or cremated, we go back to the earth. We do not live again as humans; that is my belief.

I do you see in one of my past lives, and I dont think I have had many I whas in the same city (but back than it wasn't a city yet) so sometimes I remember random scenery which wasn't there in my life time so I thought I have a random imagination originally, but one day I whas bored so I researched what whas here when this whas still just a small castle and a few old woden houses, and look at that perfect match for what I had at my random flashes (and it couldn't be me remembering a documentary or something because you half to dig deap to find anything and there has never been a documentary aboat here) and that is how I first started believing in past lives, before I would have been sceptical too FVI you dont need to be in a hypnotic state to remember stuff aboat your past live, thats just what sideshow psychics say so they could clean your wallet

PS if you have ancient memories consider visiting a shaman. If the shaman is credible than they probably will be able to recite things resembling your memories without you giving information. Then you can add the experience to your research on the subject.

A belief in past lives can be connected to religious or spiritual beliefs, though this isn't always the case. I lack a belief in past lives myself because in all honesty from a religious view seems like a unjust treatment to be condemned or blessed, in regards to the concept of karma, based on previous lives we have no control over. Of course the world is unjust in and of itself so this is a personal opinion rich holds not true value in regards to whether past lives exist. Also as you hinted at many past lives are either famous and shared by many or so average there's no way to prove its legitimacy, etc.... In the end the key word is belief as it's either something you believe in or don't, though I've never personally had any form of past life vision to shape my opinion of the matter. Due to my lack of experience I tend to keep an open mind in regards to past lives.

as mentioned above, it's a matter of belief. there are logical and divine answers to regression of course, the mind is a powerful tool after all. i personally feel we are reborn and in each life we must learn a new lesson. while it is neat that you were Cleopatra in a past life, it doesn't have any importance in this lifetime. in this lifetime you are John Doe and that's the life you must focus on. of course, sometimes warnings and/or advise can be received through past life regression, but i still feel it's this life that counts.

i'm pretty sure this was a past life for many different reasons, but as mentioned i don't put too much emphasis on it. i think in a past life i was a passenger on the Titanic. now, i've always been fascinated with the Titanic, i grew up by the sea, had fishermen in my family [my uncle, grandfather and father had all worked on ships for many years] and i learned from my own families genealogy my great grandparents were meant to be on the ships maiden voyage but my great grandmother got sick so they traded in their tickets. [just bringing up logical answers to my story.] anyway, on the 100 year anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic i had a very vivid dream where i was on the ship [while i didn't see my face, i could tell i was male] i shot awake after i hit the water in my dream. when i looked at my clock it was 2:20 am, which was the time the Titanic disappeared forever. this isn't the first time i've had dreams about being on a sinking ship, but i just assumed because i was aware of the anniversary it was my mind. later on i found out you can do past life regression through dreams. i like to believe it was my past life, but that's really the extent of it.

Thank you guys for answering. While obviously personal accounts can't prove or disprove something in this way I feel like I have a new understanding for those who believe in past lives.

Even if it isn't true I think it's an interesting way of understanding components of how people view themselves and what they would like to be identified with. In other words, outside of any magick, it's valuable in the personal sense.

Once again thank you guys. I honestly think that people who answer the forum are the most useful contributors to this site. The active community here is where I've learned important aspects of my magic and a greater understanding of other philosophies and disciplines among others who practice magic.
