Reputation System.

There seem to quite alot of complaining about the "reputation system", We all know theReputation system is not accurate. In my opinion i think pet added it becaus he wanted beginners to know who had knowlede. Also i believe that you get your reputation up by showing you have knowledge in the forum and chatter.

I'm actully glad pet added it because now we know who is fluffy and who is not. People have been havinga debate on the unfairness of the reputation system. Iv heard rumors that every member will be able to vote when pet releases the new version, but i dont know if is true. Some people make multiple accouts to rank themselves higher, for example if am knoledgeable and i have anoter account i could give that account a novice reputation.

Many people ask me "how do i get a reputation", the answer is contribute by adding spells, participate in chatter, help other members when theyare stuck, And finally post in the forum.

just remember that the reputation system will never be accurate.. People wihout a Reputation are known as fluffy, so below i tell you what the reputations mean.

Fluffy

These are people thatDo not have a rank on their profile because they talk nonsense, they are vey ignorant and they just want the answers they are looking for but sadly they dont get it because the questions are mostly "can i become a vampire or mermaid or werewolf." Thats why we just ignore them.

Beginner

These are members who show that they want to learn, they know what they are talking about in diffrent topics. This rep is for beginnes that want to learn more because they are just staring out.

Novice

These are members that have progressed from being a beginner and shown that they do have knowledge. These members are ranked novice because they know there fields very well. they mostly participate in chatter and forums, they help in the forums aswell. Novice is a reputation to be considered for membes who are experienced.

Knowledgable

This is reputation is for people that have shown that they are intelligent, these members show maturity, and try to hep as much as they can. These members are very active in the forums and in chat. Members that are knowledgeable are willing to teach other members that are willing to listen and learn.

Adept

These members are the most experienced. they are always accurate and give very usefull information. Adept is the best reputation on the site, these members give up their time to help us. they are very knowledgeable in their topics they have studied in their lifetime.

Profiles without rank are not necessarily ranked fluffy. Some users simply haven't been ranked. Only knowledgable and adept members have the ability to see whether or not an individual is ranked fluffy or truly does not possess a rank. If they see an unranked profile, and if they have the time, they will assign the proper rank. All this information is clearly documented in the SoM survival guide.

Half of the members on this site are fluffs, the knowledgeable and adept members can see who are ranked fluffy.

I would say it's more an 85% to 15% ratio of fluff to non-fluff but... same idea.

Nice post by the way. ^_^

Then again if you think about it, anyone who has studied their basics well can spot a fluffy. Anyone who studies a particular field of magick can find a fluffy. And anyone with common sense, in the terms of not being ignorant and not believing everything they read, can spot a fluffy. We just have to deal with them until they learn the truth.

No one is calling anyone a fluffy, Shadowcat. I find it good that you have made a new thread on this. Some of the old ones are buried in the forums and new reminders are wonderful. Fluffies are mainly roleplayers and a lot of little kids can come. I don't see the question, "Can I become a vampire or etc?" a full fluffy topic because they are learning. They ask "Can I," but something that saids I can become a vampire or I am a vampire is a better way to explain a fluffy in general since they admited you can be one when you can't. Newbies and kids ask questions whichis ok, but saying they are and you can become one is not acceptable. Not all fluffies are ignored because we can always redeem their ways. They can always get the point that you can't become a magical beingin the future. Plus they can always learn and change. Also not all members marked beginner can't be new. Some can say something, but be in the craft for several years and get the beginner rank. Thanks for bringing this up again.

A side note on mind is that I think whensomeone first joins the site they should have a rank called "Newbie" and after a few post we can see if their a fluffy, beginner, novice, or etc. This just a thought.

like Legend said, most members who have been studying can spot a fluffy or a newbie by how they act and what they ask about. you wouldn't [shouldn't] be called a fluffy by asking 'can i become a vampire' if it's a first time question. if you're demanding, then you might be called a fluffy.

nice post Angel, true the ranking system isn't perfect, i mostly ignore it. would i like to be ranked higher? yes, i was happy ranked novice, but there's only a handful of people who can rank people, so whatcha gonna do? i really don't think the system should be opened up to everybody, perhaps novice or higher, but not everybody. like you said, multiple accounts owned by the same person can rank their account up higher than it should be. opening it up so anyone can rank anyone else, it's going to be a really bad thing, so i hope it's just a rumour.
