Higher self

Hey guys! Lately I've been trying to meet my higher self but it's just not working for me... I tried everything listed on forums, spells and I even took guided meditations to see if that would help, but it didn't... I just can't feel a connection with what I'm seeing and I start doubting if what I'm seeing is actually real... I have a lot of questions that I would like to ask him/her! So I was wondering, does anyone here have a special method or something else to do this? I'm used to meditations btw so a higher difficulty should work out as well. Thx!

I have seen this happen to people who have difficulty getting in touch with there higher self. try to center your self before your start meditations

Also sometimes it is hard to feel connections because lack control over our physical body. we tend to give into the desires of our physical bodies without any regard to our whole self at times. Our bodies if left to it's own devices has a mind of its own. we know this cause we breath with out thought, we have to think of not breathing to stop breathing, your body goes through moments of hornyness at times without stimuli.

an example of lack of control of the physical body
for example , lets say you just had a big meal and then five mins later you smell bacon and you know your not hungry but you decide to give in the flesh and eat the bacon; not cause you need to but because your body was craving it.

when this occurs your physical can become numb to the connection of your higher self or unable to sense the workings of your spirit cause your physical body has become arrogant

For some, control over your physical body is difficult, but putting your body through denial for example fasting or not eating what it wants. Many foods are addictive, our body favor and crave foods such as meat, salts, and sugar, and often demands for more than just what is necessary especially when abundance is available.

-A common solution to this is fasting however, i don't approve for just anyone to fast who don't know how correctly perform that ritual because it can be dangerous and lead to death, but I do something that i believe is effective and helpful

Mediation along with setting days out in the week where you don't eat meat, refined sugars, excessive salt, and eat minimal sufficient proportions after a few days you will notice your body more receptive to spiritual intercession during meditation.

when you meditate to connect do you feel a pull? like your being pulled up? often you may feel slightly dizzy, when you do a guided meditation are you seeing, hearing and sensing all that is around you.
it sounds as if your not relaxing and allowing yourself to let go have trust and most that will happen is you will fall asleep love and light

Beloved, your Higher Self is not some metaphysical being that you need hours of meditation to connect with.

Your Higher Self is that voice in your head that tells you when you are on the right path, that gives you advice and warnings, that tells you what choices to make. Sometimes it's quieter than others; sometimes it will make itself known.

With things like this, it is often best to allow things to develop rather than work very hard to make them appear. The more you sit in quiet stillness, the less noise your Higher Self has to "speak" over. Perhaps a daily quiet practice, meditation, prayer, qigong, etc., would serve you in being able to tune in to your own inner wisdom.

Definition for higher self: The tman (IAST: tman, sanskrit: ) is a philosophical term used within Hinduism and Vedanta to identify the soul whether in global sense (world's soul) or in individual sense (of a person own soul).
~Source wiki

True (or Higher) Self: The self we normally identify with is a fabrication of our ego (intended to replace what God made with a "new, improved" identity that better matches the EGO'S ideals of perfection). By design, the mask totally conceals the real face behind it. But, although we may get caught up in the dramas of self-centered existence and even become totally identified with them, we can never reduce ourselves to mere ego. The most convincing proof of that is found in our true spiritual aspirations. If we were the egoic beings we may presume ourselves to be, we would never be motivated to recognize, respond to, and aspire to the realization of Truth, high ideals, and God.

Higher Self: a person's spiritual self, as the focus of many meditation techniques, as opposed to the physical body
~Source definition-of.net

The part of one’s spirit that is in direct contact with the divine. It corresponds to Freud’s superego. It communicates with the Conscious Self in dreams, meditation, etc. It can be seen as a personification of the transcendental, or spiritual self.
~Source wolfmoongrove.com (a wiccan site)

These are a variety of sources. From its origins in Hinduism, to its twists in what seems like a Christian twist to a psychological viewpoint, to a "new age" definition, to a wiccan one. I took them from such varying perspectives to show that not one says the higher self is a seperate entity. They all have the same base line. It's apart of us.

Why does everyone always speak about the higher Self as if it were a seperate entity. There is no such thing as "meeting" your higher Self. It's a part of you! Its about tapping into your spirit, connecting with who you are on a spiritual level. If you are not open to learning about yourself in a different sense, you will never reach a point where you become one with your Self. Its about knowing who you are, and not what you feel that you are. Its about your soul, connecting to the very essence that is you and becoming whole.

I'm sorry if I seem a little agressive here. I don't mean to be. I'm just frustrated that people are searching for their Higher Selves without understanding what it truly is. If you don't know what you're looking for, how will you ever find it?

People refer to the Higher Self as a separate entity because that is how they view it, White. Varying definitions of what it is, personal beliefs of what it is, ect. doesn't make ones view on it being separate wrong. Just different.

Personally I am of the belief that it is separate yet the same. A higher consciousness to which we can commune with and eventually connect with upon lessons learned and eventually death. While it inhabits the body to which our physical consciousness is in, it is a separate entity and us on a much higher level than we will ever fully understand in the physical life time. A consciousness that chooses this time and this shell to experience certain things. Having said that, I also believe not everyone connects to their higher self in this life time as they may not be spiritually ready for it.

Is my view wrong? Nope. It's different from others. Nothing more or less.

I have never considered a "Higher Self". I do, however, consider that the subconscious is more powerful than the conscious. The knowledge and wisdom that comes from meditation is, for me, somewhat likened to a "Higher Self"; although I have never thought of it that way.

Rashnu. Viewing it as a seperate entity is wrong. You can't take a term and make up your own meaning. If you are using a term and you are attempting to accomplish a goal surrounding that term, then we should all be on the same page.

Some terms are controversial, yes, such as "black magick" and such because the color "black" has so many possible connections. But the higher Self is self explainatory. "Self" is "The total, essential, or particular being of a person; the individual" (freedictionary.com). It couldn't be more simply named.

I'm not trying to be mean. I'm just attempting to bring clarification of the definition. He obviously isn't getting anywhere believing that it is something he must "meet" with.

And Brysing, essentially it is the same idea. Your subconscious is on a more spiritual level than your conscious. And your "conscience" is the voice of your subconscious. Tapping into subconscious thought and learning to listen is no different than connecting to our higher self.

“Conscience is the voice of the soul; the passions are the voice of the body” Jean-Jacques Rousseau
