What about you?

Well, I know that all of us has to learn magic from somewhere right? Well, if you all don't mind me for asking, where did you learn it? I suppose most of my knowledge has come from this site (since I am the first generation of witches in my family), and other people that helped contribute the fact. I'd also like to be taught by someone in real life, not just on the internet, but you can't always get what you want!

I suppose i've been kind of brought up around the "mystical" my whole life but not wicca, paganism or witchcraft, I only choose to take the witchcraft path 5 years ago and I learned myself through reading books, the internet, and a lot of looking innerward at myself.
I only found this site this year although this site hasn't learned me how to be a witch it has greatly increased my knowledge :)

For the first few years I just got my knowledge from the internet, and this site. Then I started reading books. And 2 years ago, I was up at my cousins house for new years, and they invited a family friend who they said "reads cards" so I thought oh thatll be fun. And we met. And she does more then read cards, she's a wiccan and a witch. So she's been my mentor ever since then. She even buys me things like candles and crystals and stuff. For halloween she's buying me a candle magick book and I'm getting her a gift too. So, that's basically where I learned from.

I've learned entirely from the internet and from books that I had access to from my local library. I've never learned from anyone in person. I currently am teaching a friend who wants to learn about things though and, from what I've read over the years am pointing her in a really good (and non-Hollywood inspired) direction.

The book thing is kind of tricky, though. I mean, I get a book from the library, a book "appears" on my bed or is given to me by someone. I look at books on the store shelves, in catalogues, whatever. Then, what happens? I go on the internet to check out the author's reputation so I can make sure I'm reading correct information and stuff and most of the time it seems, find that nearly the whole magickal community hates the author's guts, and laughs in their general direction. And not only that, but that they equally hate the whole entire publishing company they come from and that's usually where I get my books. Now I don't know what to think!
