Grey Magick

I have heard rumors about grey magic and it seems interesting. They say it's the balance between white and black magic. I just want to know if it is real and more information about this. Also I want to know what spells and what to do that are part of this topic...

I'm asking general information of grey magic, and the overall grey magic itself.

Hi hi!

Not everyone believes that magick has color. It's all about your intentions and what you want to do. If you consider something you've done black, grey, or white, then that's all up to you. I would think that grey magick is like a neutral between black and white (obviously.) I'm thinking like...You do something bad but with good intentions. Things like that. :P Sorry, I don't know really know much about grey magick. x3 Hope you can find more information soon!

The entire notions of black and white magic are heavily skewed for me. For me, "black" magic is simply the magic of the left hand path, with "white" magic being magic of the right hand path. The LHP/RHP would be a mindset, and the black/white magic would be a pratice.

But this causes a lot of problems, when looked at closely, in part because not only do both work with both yin-based and yang-based, both use magics that would be classed as the other's intention(ex. a white lighter puts a binding spell, and a black magician heals his sick daughter)

A reconciliation between the two mindsets of magic, to find a MHP, is very hard, if not impossible, in my opinion. An explanation of the two, I had outlined there.

Labels in general aren't of much use to the individual. They are a limitation. Though that is a story for another time.

So, with all due respect, I do not believe that "grey" magic is a thing, because I do not believe that "white" or "black" magic is a thing.

I mean, balance is advised in almost everything, rather than one-sided over-devotion. It's a good way to lose your mind if you lean way too much towards the dark, and a good way to get burned alive if you're leaning way too much towards the light.

Not to mention, being limited by what other people do and consider to be right or wrong...bleh.

every type of magick is gray magick. magick is intent, not colour. the whole colour thin is a result of hollywood and faerie tales. 'white' magick is seen as spells that do no harm [see healing, protection, love] while 'black' magick is seen as those spells that do cause harm [curses, hexes] everything else in between is believed to be 'gray' as it can be used for good or evil. however, all magick is on a varying degree of grey if you scratch the surface.

you cast a spell to heal a sick friend, you think you did a 'white' spell, but your friend didn't want you to cast on them, this would take away their free will and essentially have you say 'i know whats best for you' which would actually put it in the 'black' magick category. a curse is seen as a pretty strong 'black' magick spell, but what if the person you are cursing is someone who brutally attacked you or a loved one? would it still be 'black'? this is why magick is intent, you can't neatly label everything is one or the other, it's all various shades of gray. [so when you say you are interested in gray magick, you're really interested in magick]

as for what spells are 'grey' every spell. you need to take a moment and honestly reflect on the spell as a whole. many new members to the craft tend to label spells by colour and think 'this is fine, it's white' [some go down further like 'green' magick for money spells or 'pink' magick for love spells. i guess it helps with colour association, but it's still the same neutral energy] i've noticed people start to ask about 'gray' magick when they've been here for a bit and started hearing how spells can backfire and to be careful what you wish for. it's a great level of maturity when you can take a step back from your emotions and be somewhat logical. ['i love him, he has to leave his girlfriend, i'm doing the right thing' versus 'i really like him, but he's got a girlfriend, casting a spell would do harm to her, and do harm to him, perhaps i should look at a different spell' that's grey magick]

The term "Greg" magick hardly exists, as with black and white. There is no color to magick unless its in candles and such. There is intent, good or malicious.
