I hear that mental illnesses are from demonic possession according to some sources. Does anyone know whats could be spiritual causes related to schizoaffective disorder bipolar type, depersonalization disorder, and PTSD? Any info would be obliged. Thank you.

While some people may attribute certain things to the spiritual, it does not rule out the possibility of mental illness.

Mental illness is no joke. Schizophrenia can flare up or subside, leaving a person experiencing life as it is for a while, then suddenly there are quirks about their environment, ranging from small visual or audible glitches to full-blown hallucinations.

Spiritual experiences typically occur during a deliberate working, when the practitioner enters a trance-like state. It is not a random occurrence.

Demonic posession would not cause mental illness because most (not all) mental illnesses are present at birth. Mental illnesses have physical causes, many of which neuroscientists are still researching.

Actually, Eissy, some forms of mental illness are not present at birth. Some types of schizophrenia, for example, do not manifest until early adulthood; even hereditary schizophrenia.

Depression can be hereditary or conditional, and conditional depression covers such a wide range. It does not always mean someone is currently experiencing something causing depression; there could have been a single traumatizing event which initiated a lifetime of chronic depression.

Anxiety is similar. It can arise during or after puberty, or be conditional.

Some mental illnesses can be induced with brain damage. For example, frontal lobe damage is linked to rage problems. Some types of brain damage (or developing tumors, hematoma, fluid on the brain from a physical trauma, and so-on) can also induce mental illness. I know one person who possibly has brain damage from alcoholism during their your adult life, and shows distinct signed of schizophrenia, has paranoia issues, hereditary depression, possibly bipolarism or dissociative personality disorder; only the depression runs in their family.

The causes of mental illnesses vary from biological to enviromental affecting factors. They are possible to be genetically inherited from the parents and not be activated by the enviroment. It is also possible to be activated by the enviroment (eg traumatic experience, loss of a relative).

Mental ilnesses are not linked to possession since schizoaffective disorder, bipolar, multiple personality disorder are genetically and biologically based.

While PTSD is caused from a traumatic experience.

The link between possession and mental illness is dangerous and rooted in medieval thinking. The mentally ill were treated as though they were possessed because there was no other explanation for it at the time. Horror movies and the like sometimes go with this angle because, frankly, it's an easy angle to write.

Magical work involving demonic and other forms of possession is no substitute for psychiatric treatment.
