Okay, I just did a little research on magick. So, any pointers on how to get started? Are there certain things I need to do?

Learn the basics of magic and study other subjects of your liking and slowly get your materials. You don't need to have everything. Take your time learning and buying you materials.

Example: If you get into crystals, you don't have to buy them all. You should buy the ones that you have a connection with. Sometimes the item will call out to you.

Studying many forms and paths is what got me started. Even though I don't practice everything I have studied, I still find it is good to have knowledge in other areas so as to hold conversations with other practitioners.

Also, tools are not necessary unless you are practicing a tradition that calls for them. "Magick" on its own is not considered a tradition as it is not associated with a specific time and culture (though there are forms of it present in many).

What do you want to get started on?

Magick alone?

Wicca?

Witchcraft?

Spells only?

Define your path.

Wicca really shouldn't be considered a magical path just because it is open to magic.

And people take time to define their path, so it really just depends on what they are interested in.

I suggest to all newbies to go to forums. In the General Info section, read Starting Out and Basics Expanded. This will get you started. I have a meditation exercise on my profile, if you want to try it.
