red brick powder

I heard from someone a long time ago that if you put red brick powder around your house and someone with bad intentions goes to your house they will not enter even if you tell them they can come in. i'm wondering about salt too. I know its helpful but is it true that witches can't come in or out of a salt circle?
blessed be.

I heard about that from a hoodoo/ rootwork book. It is mostly superstition in the south of U.S. The salt circle is just a suggestion to witches, not a rule or law. Salt is both a binding reagent and a representational aspect of the spirit in elements. When placed in a circle the circle represents a boundry or barrier keeping spirits you are working with in and keeping the ones you don't out.

Red Brick is used like an easily laid and pulled up iron fence. Iron is classically known for keeping out negative or "spirit" energy for anything from graveyard lurkers to faeries. It is also used to ward of negativity and minor crossings or tricks.

Salt is utilized in a variety of ways. It is used, generally, in a cleansing way or to ward off other negativity. This application is seen in everything from tossing salt about in the home to witch's bottles. it can also be used as a grounding agent. Hence why some don't use salt when cooking for their spirits or ancestors, this will vary from practice to practice.
