You don't have to join a coven in order to learn about witchcraft or magic. There are many, many things that you can study and learn on your own. And of course you can post questions here on this website, or you can join one of the on-line covens here. Which coven you join will depend largely on your personal magical interests.

Here's some books that you might find useful in starting out:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman

"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

"A Witch Alone" by Marian Green

"Natural Witchcraft" by Marian Green

"Cottage Witchery" by Ellen Dugan

I always recommend this site, which hosts the tutorial that really got me going: http://thebookoft.wordpress.com/knowledge/witchcraft-from-the-ground-up/

But on the other hand, it doesn't have the vision quests that I believe could really help you. I mean, if you open up your chakras as per the tutorial...and you're currently under a psychic attack, then your spirit body might get polluted. So, unfortunately, it's like putting the cart before the horse if you want to learn on the fly, pushed-into-the-pool-to-sink-or-swim like this.

Dear Micra,

I have a website in my profile area which actually takes the beginner through several steps of spell casting. I've used them myself and found them quite useful.

Blessed Be,
Asha
